In this role, you will serve as the engineering team's Systems Engineering Lead, ensuring engineering process compliance and standards across the project team. This involves ensuring complex software system requirements from multiple sources are documented, tracked, deconflicted, and verified; configuration management processes are followed; engineering documentation is complete and accurate; and engineering deliverables meet quality standards. You will work side by side with network, cloud, software, and systems engineers supporting a hybrid environment spanning on-premises infrastructure and multiple cloud environments. This is a hands-on engineering role with a quality and compliance focus. This is a mission-critical program where your work directly contributes to matters of national security. You will help the team evolve a TRL-5 prototype system into a TRL-8 product in support of a classified customer pilot deployment as part of a newly formed and growing cyber solutions line of business. What You'll Be Doing - Adapt and implement sound systems engineering practices to guide the engineering team through the systems design and development process under the auspices of the Technical Director - Help develop and implement engineering management plans and processes as required - Working with the PM, QA, and Security, establish and enforce engineering, quality, security, and safety standards in all engineering phases with an eye toward risk reduction, opportunity enhancement, team efficiency, and customer satisfaction - Define and guide the effort to develop and maintain system design documents, product documents, interface control documents, configuration baselines, architecture diagrams, and technical manuals as needed - Manage the requirements collection, deconfliction, allocation, validation, tracking and documentation processes - Participate in design reviews, test events, and configuration control boards (CCBs) to assess solutions and the impact of requested changes, mentor junior engineers - Advocate and facilitate the continual application of risk and opportunity management, continuous improvement, quality, configuration management, and security practices among the team What Required Skills You'll Bring - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree - 10+ years of systems engineering or related experience, with demonstrated experience leading the systems engineering effort for complex systems - Experience with classified system’s hardening and protection, RMF framework, NIST policies, and cybersecurity protection practices - Working knowledge of Linux (RHEL) environments, virtualization, cloud computing, and TCP/IP networking - Adept at balancing multiple simultaneous streams of requirements and priorities while considering the impacts on design, implementation, maintenance, support, and operations - The ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely for both technical and non-technical audiences - Team player, insatiable curiosity, and willingness to lean forward, take calculated risks, and defend your position - Active TS security clearance with SCI eligibility, may require the ability to obtain a polygraph What Desired Skills You'll Bring - Working knowledge of offensive and defensive cyber tactics - Experience documenting systems in accordance with DoD or IC documentation standards and data item descriptions (DIDs) - Familiarity with Government cloud environments - Experience working in SCIF or other classified/air gapped environments - Familiarity with configuration management practices and tools (Git, SharePoint versioning, Confluence) Security Clearance Requirement: An active Top Secret SCI security clearance is required for this position.
