Radio TAIT Engineer

Role Description This is a remote position. CTI Staffing is partnering with a well-established utility organization to find a Tait Radio (RF) Engineer for their communications team, fully remote supporting Pacific time zone. This team keeps a mission-critical private radio network running across the utility's service area. The role owns the full lifecycle of the radio network, from design through RF optimization, and is central to keeping field communications reliable for a large, safety-focused operation. What You'll Do - Design Tait radio solutions (DMR, MPT-IP, conventional) including system diagrams and equipment specifications - Lead installation, wiring, and commissioning of base stations, repeaters, and antenna infrastructure - Configure and program subscriber radios, base stations, and network controllers using Tait software tools - Diagnose and resolve RF performance, network connectivity, and software issues - Conduct site surveys and RF coverage analysis to optimize network performance - Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, network diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures - Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and client stakeholders - Build strong day-to-day relationships with client technical teams Qualifications - Must-Have: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or equivalent practical experience - Direct hands-on experience with Tait Communications radio systems (DMR, MPT-IP, conventional) - Strong RF fundamentals: antenna theory, propagation, RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, power meters, network analyzers) - Proficiency with Tait system management and configuration software tools - Experience with IP networking (TCP/IP, routing, switching) as applied to radio systems - Strong troubleshooting skills with a methodical, root-cause approach - Strong written and verbal communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders - RF safety standards knowledge - Nice-to-Have: - Prior work in utility, transit, or public safety communications environments - Experience training or mentoring junior radio engineers - Client-facing project delivery experience - Familiarity with additional LMR vendor platforms Requirements - Tait DMR (Tier 2 & Tier 3), MPT-IP, Conventional systems - Tait System Management, DMR Administrator, Enable Fleet - TCP/IP networking, spectrum analysis equipment What Success Looks Like - Stable, optimized RF coverage across the service area within the first 90 days - Clean, complete network documentation handed off to the client - Fast, accurate diagnosis and resolution on Tait-specific technical issues as they arise

• Design and configure Okta policies, access controls, and token settings for applications and APIs. • Integrate applications with Okta for authentication and authorization using established patterns. • Support migrations of Okta configurations and applications between environments. • Replace OAG dependencies by implementing OIDC and Apache-based access where appropriate. • Troubleshoot authentication, authorization, and access issues across integrated applications. • Collaborate directly with application and identity teams to gather requirements and implement solutions. • Document configuration changes, integration details, and operational runbooks. • Support Okta automation and AI initiatives when capacity permits to improve operational efficiency.
• Lead the planning, design, and optimization of large-scale FTTH/FTTP fiber optic networks, ensuring compliance with client requirements, permitting constraints, budget goals, and engineering best practices; • Oversee and review High Level Designs (HLDs) and Low-Level Designs (LLDs), providing technical guidance and approvals for route proposals, splice point placement, and network architecture; • Manage advanced GIS and CAD workflows including data validation, integration, and QA/QC across multiple platforms such as ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Katapult, and Google Earth; • Supervise and mentor junior design engineers, ensuring quality control, adherence to standards, and skill development across the OSP engineering team; • Coordinate across departments and stakeholders (survey, permitting, GIS, construction, and project management) to lead technical discussions, remove project blockers, and ensure alignment from design through construction; • Analyze and resolve complex field conflicts and design issues discovered during aerial and underground surveys, proposing cost-effective and compliant alternatives; • Ensure full compliance with NESC/NEC codes, state and local regulations, and client-specific design standards, proactively managing risk and constructability concerns; • Serve as a subject matter expert in fiber optic network design, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, templates, and best practices; • Lead technical design reviews, audits, and sign-offs, ensuring consistency, constructability, and long-term scalability of the network infrastructure.
