Electrical Engineer II – Substation
RRC
• Develop and review physical substation design deliverables including equipment layouts, grounding systems, bus configurations, conduit and cable schedules, and general arrangement drawings • Perform engineering calculations to support substation design (grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, equipment ratings) • Support substation equipment selection and vendor drawing review • Prepare and review construction design packages and technical documentation • Coordinate with internal teams including engineers, designers, and project managers to support project execution and resolve issues • Perform quality control and quality checking on project deliverables, including drawings and studies • Support multiple projects while maintaining schedule and quality standards • Ensure designs comply with industry codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, ANSI) • Occasionally travel and complete site visits
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Engineering, or related field preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation required; Professional Engineering registration license or ability to obtain license
- 2–5+ years of experience in substation engineering, with focus on physical design
- Experience preparing construction documents, calculations, and reviewing drawings
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or electrical analysis software (ETAP, CYME, SKM, PSCAD)
- Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards (IEEE, NESC, NEC)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
