• Develop and review physical substation design deliverables including equipment layouts, grounding systems, bus configurations, conduit and cable schedules, and general arrangement drawings • Perform engineering calculations to support substation design (grounding analysis, cable sizing, voltage drop, equipment ratings) • Support substation equipment selection and vendor drawing review • Prepare and review construction design packages and technical documentation • Coordinate with internal teams including engineers, designers, and project managers to support project execution and resolve issues • Perform quality control and quality checking on project deliverables, including drawings and studies • Support multiple projects while maintaining schedule and quality standards • Ensure designs comply with industry codes and standards (IEEE, NEC, NESC, ANSI) • Occasionally travel and complete site visits
• Take directions from more senior-level engineers to assist with design related tasks while gaining experience and learning the skills necessary to carry out successful projects. • Review project-related design documents, such as fabrication shop drawings, for completion and errors. • Help model various structures using finite element modeling to be used for design. • Review various design codes to apply the appropriate design standards. • Perform value engineering design analyses to determine the most cost-competitive design. • Project site-visits to inspect construction quality are possible on occasion. • Interest in using several different structural design codes including IBC, ACI, ASCE 7, AISC, etc. • AutoCAD and/or finite element analysis experience is preferred. • Must be willing to travel to project locations for short durations (typically one to two days per trip) around the U.S. at least a few times per year. • Must have the ability to walk on and inspect structural reinforcement.
• Complete substation (Air & GIS) switchyard design packages encompassing operating single line diagrams, layouts, sections, bus calculation/selections, ground grid, cable tray/trench/duct bank, lighting, lightning protection, prefabricated control building layouts, AC/DC station service supply, voltage drop, conduit/cable tray fill, bill of materials, etc. • Complete substation protection and control design packages including single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, etc. • Complete renewable energy collector system design packages such as medium voltage systems with switchgear, transformers, AC/DC inverters and power cables, AC/DC distribution systems, PV plants, battery energy storage systems, and wind turbines for both wind and solar projects • Interface with internal and external team members including electrical engineers, electrical designers, drafters, project managers, and take ownership of the project to meet and exceed client expectations. • Support development of standards, optimizations, and processes and provide execution plans with strong follow-through
• Support the design and development of high-voltage substation Protection & Control systems for AIS and GIS substations • Prepare and revise P&C design drawings including, single-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, wiring diagrams and communication schematics • Assist engineers with the preparation of engineering design packages and deliverables • Ensure drawings and deliverables comply with applicable industry standards including IEEE, NERC, NEC, and NESC, as well as client-specific requirements • Perform redlines, updates, and revisions to existing drawings based on engineering markups • Support project teams by contributing to schedules, deliverables, and coordination efforts • Assist in the development and organization of relay and control panel documentation • Participate in QA/QC reviews to ensure accuracy and completeness of design packages • Coordinate with internal teams including engineering, SCADA, and field services to ensure cohesive project execution • Provide support for field activities such as site visits, FATs, and as-built documentation as required
• Develop and calculate protective relay settings for transmission, distribution, substations, and renewable energy facilities • Perform relay coordination studies, short circuit studies, and fault analysis for utility and industrial power systems • Support the design, implementation, and review of protection schemes • Investigate relay operations and assist with troubleshooting protection system issues • Prepare relay settings files, technical calculations, coordination reports, and supporting engineering documentation • Review one-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, relay logic diagrams, and protection and control drawings for accuracy and compliance • Utilize modeling and analysis software such as ETAP, ASPEN, SKM, CAPE, or similar tools to support engineering studies and relay coordination • Coordinate with utilities, project managers, field personnel, and multidisciplinary engineering teams throughout project execution • Support commissioning, testing, and energization activities for substations and power system equipment • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, utility requirements, and client specifications • Support project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining quality work and client satisfaction
• Assist in the design and engineering of Battery Energy Storage Systems, DC systems and MV power systems such as switchgear and distribution equipment. • Support the preparation and execution of system studies including ampacity, load flow, short circuit analysis, and loss studies. • Work with project teams to support the preparation, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of engineering project activities. • Assist in interpreting client needs and project requirements and translating them into engineering solutions. • Review manufacturer equipment drawings and technical specifications. • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and quality assurance policies. • Assist in performing quality control checks on engineering deliverables including drawings, calculations, and studies. • Support review of engineering deliverables and assist in implementing corrective actions when required. • Coordinate with designers and drafters to ensure drawings meet engineering requirements. • Work with team on changing trends in technology
• Collaborate with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to create precise electrical engineering designs for utility-scale BESS projects. • Create detailed designs in 2-D and 3-D using primarily AutoCAD Civil 3-D software and prepare drawings per project specifications & client requirements. • Create site plans, single line diagrams, cable schedules, and equipment elevation drawings for BESS electrical drawing packages. • Work in AutoCAD C3D to create site model layouts by creating geolocated electrical base files, while ensuring coordination with internal and external multidisciplinary groups, referencing each other’s work. • Ensure that all project drawings adhere to RRC internal standards, relevant industry regulations, codes and best practices. • Ability to review and understand equipment specification sheets and determine requirements for BESS electrical systems. • Participate in efforts to improve quality and aesthetics of BESS team final products by participating in electrical team and multi-disciplinary efforts to improve and advance department and RRC standards, best-practices, SOP’s, and other documentation. • Participate in project meetings and provide regular progress reports to managers, engineers, clients, and other stakeholders. • Maintains high ethical and professional standards within the organization and in nurturing relationships with clients. • Other responsibilities as assigned.

• Apply civil/structural engineering principles and project management skills to carry out project tasks from start to finish while working with the rest of the multidisciplinary team to complete tasks. • Resolve construction issues that arise, especially involving reinforced concrete, to the clients satisfaction, as needed. • Perform structural design and analysis for substation facilities including equipment foundations, steel support structures, control buildings, cable trench systems, and bus structures. • Coordinate with electrical engineering teams to support physical substation layout and equipment integration • Maintain project budgets, schedule requirements, and quality requirements. • Follow established company design procedures and industry standards for Power Delivery (substation, BESS, transmission line) while actively contributing to the improvement of those procedures over time. • Take responsibility as the engineer of record for various civil/structural engineering design projects as relevant experience is gained. • Review or appropriately delegate the review of project-related design documents, such as fabrication shop drawings, for completion and errors. • Review various design codes in order to apply the appropriate design standards. • Perform value engineering design analyses to determine the most cost-competitive design. • Complete project site-visits to inspect construction quality are possible on occasion. • Support proposals with technical input and scope development • Provide occasional site visits, design reviews, and proposal support.
