Software Engineering Intern – Part-Time, Internal Tooling
Traackr
• Improve reliability and correctness of a social platform integration, including data quality fixes • Expand and validate data ingestion to support additional attributes • Automate ingestion workflows and introduce monitoring for failures • Build API endpoints to support internal services • Develop internal tools and simple UIs for data access and visibility • Identify and track key user actions across services • Contribute to monitoring, alerting, and automation of system health
Job Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go, C++, JavaScript, Kotlin)
- Basic understanding of web development concepts, including APIs and client-server architecture (CRUD, REST, databases)
- Familiarity with core HTTP concepts (requests, responses, status codes)
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and work within an existing codebase
- Experience with Python or Kotlin
- Familiarity with data pipelines or ETL concepts
- Exposure to observability tools (metrics, dashboards, alerting)
- Experience working with APIs, logs, or debugging tools
- Basic knowledge of databases/SQL
- Basic web development knowledge and hands-on project experience****

• Develop solutions that add value and efficiency across systems while minimizing technical debt. • Use AI agents and GitHub Copilot to implement .NET solutions from high-level Specs. • Collaborate closely with engineers, product owners, and stakeholders to meet product objectives and refine Specs. • Maintain a "Test First" mentality by managing the intent of AI-generated code so that it meets the functional, security, and performance requirements of the product. • Stay updated on technology trends and product roadmaps to guide development. • Contribute to cross-functional business processes. • Embrace best practices, cross-team collaboration, and process continuity. • Contribute to a collaborative culture based on trust and respect.
• Develop and implement websites, web applications, application databases, and interactive web interfaces. • Develop and launch native application for iOS and Android. • Transform wireframes and design concepts into functional web applications using modern front-end technologies like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. • Develop and deploy different versions of a feature to determine which one performs better, using data to inform product decisions and drive conversions. • Optimize applications for speed and performance, and ensure they are compatible across different browsers and devices. • Work closely with back-end developers to integrate APIs and ensure data flows smoothly, as well as with UI/UX designers to implement design concepts that align with the brand. • Keep up-to-date on new technologies and tools to bring innovative ideas to the company's products.
• Design and deliver end-to end software solutions, including performant APIs, distributed microservices, scalable data models. • Develop software features and identify/resolve system bottlenecks. • Review and provide feedback on software code quality, maintainability, and adherence to best practices. • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through architecture reviews, technical design consultations, and pair programming. • Lead high-impact code reviews, establish engineering standards, deliver technical training on advanced architecture, and serve as a technical escalation point to drive team skill development and system reliability. • Drive architectural decisions including making key decisions on system design, database schema, microservices architecture, and infrastructure scaling strategies. • Optimize system performance, identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve system reliability and efficiency. • Build, monitor, and improve CI/CD pipelines downtime and deployment processes. • Leverage observability tools such as Datadog, Sumo Logic, Sentry to monitor system health and address issues in logs, metrics, and alerts. • Document technical solutions to create comprehensive documentation for architectural decisions, API contracts, and system designs. • Build Fault-Tolerant Systems and design distributed systems using message queues and other fault-tolerant patterns. • Conduct software testing and quality control of front-end web development systems and backend microservices, debug native code and performance tuning mobile applications. • Lead front end web development utilizing modern web architecture with a backend for front-end API supporting system through all stages, from inception to deployment.
