Role Description Indiana University Health is seeking individuals who embody excellence, compassion, teamwork, and purpose to join our IIS team in the role of Developer-Information Services Senior. This position is full time, remote. The Senior Data Engineer is critical in shaping the strategic data framework of the organization. This role demands a deep understanding of data systems and analytics, tasked with leading the development and integration of extensive business intelligence solutions. The Senior Data Engineer drives the design and maintenance of scalable data environments, ensures data integrity, and supports decision-making processes across the company with high-quality data insights. - Design, construct, test, and maintain highly scalable data management systems. - Develop and optimize ETL processes, ensuring efficient data integration and transformation. - Implement data solutions that support significant, dynamic business requirements, collaborating closely with business intelligence and analytics teams. - Review, analyze, and modify systems including encoding, testing, debugging, and documenting programs. - Maintain and develop logical and physical data models, data management standards and conventions, and data naming standards and metadata. - Perform reverse engineering of physical data models from databases and SQL scripts. - Evaluate data models and physical databases for variances and discrepancies. - Ensure data objects and architecture support company-wide technology solutions, making adjustments as necessary. - Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices, and guiding them in their professional development. Qualifications - At least 1 year experience in Databricks (Preferred). - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (Required). - A Master’s degree is preferred. - At least 5 years of relevant experience in a data engineering role, with a proven track record in sophisticated BI and data warehouse development projects (Required). - Expert knowledge of SQL and experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Databricks, and modern data warehousing solutions like BigQuery, Snowflake or Redshift (Required). - Strong familiarity with cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (Required). - Experience with data integration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow, Talend) and understanding of data modeling principles (Required). - Excellent problem-solving abilities, capable of tackling complex data challenges (Required). - Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across team and department boundaries (Required). - Healthcare industry experience preferred. - Fundamental understanding of the Information Management principles, IT processes, SDLC, architecture and technologies adopted by an organization (Required). - Requires experience with SharePoint, and Office 365 products (Required). - Experience working in an Agile environment with Azure DevOps is a plus. • Build product that puts foundation models for biology into the hands of scientists and engineers • Own features end to end and turn cutting-edge research into reliable, well-crafted products • Work in close partnership with Product Engineers • Design, build, test and ship features spanning back-end services and front-end interfaces for B2B biology products • Set engineering patterns and standards for the surfaces you own • Mentor other engineers through code review and pairing • Collaborate closely with Product Engineers and platform/infra engineers

Role Description Contribute to our event-driven Microservice Architecture (currently 200+ services owned by 40+ teams). You will define and maintain the services your team owns (you design it, you build it, you run it, you scale it globally). - Use Java 21 , Spring Boot , and JOOQ to build your services. - Expose and consume RESTful APIs . We value good API design and treat our APIs as Products. - Use SNS + SQS and Kafka to send events. - Utilise PostgreSQL via Aurora as your primary datastore. - Deploy your services to Production as often as needed (usually multiple times per day). - Experience modern GitOps using ArgoCD . - Have Coralogix as your best friend to monitor your services and investigate issues. - Collaborate closely with Product Owners to understand Users’ needs, Business opportunities, and Regulatory requirements. Qualifications - Experience building server-side applications and knowledge of relevant programming languages for your stack. - Sound knowledge of a backend framework (e.g. Spring/Spring Boot) used to write microservices that expose and consume RESTful APIs. - Experience engineering scalable and reliable solutions in a cloud-native environment. - Demonstrate a mindset of delivering secure, well-tested, and well-documented software. Requirements - Willingness to learn Java if not already known. - Understanding of CI/CD fundamentals and practical Agile methodologies. - Ability to integrate with various third-party providers and partners.
