The Navigators
Role Description The Grant Writer shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose: To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. This position executes the fundraising functions related to major foundations. Essential Functions - Grant Writing – 95% - Executes the annual foundations and grants strategy through research and analysis and creates grant proposals to fulfill the engagement and solicitation requirements of major foundations. - Assists Advancement Department Leadership and Ministry Partner Advisors with prospecting new grants and assessing project feasibility, drafting proposals, and ensuring follow-up reporting to all grant proposals. - Assists field staff with foundation requests and helps them create and gather items needed for the grant proposals as capacity permits. - Additional Responsibilities - Participate in Navigators’ on-site learning and development events, Cultural Development and Diversity trainings, or other non-Navigator developmental events as appropriate. - Participate in annual processes, such as the organizational Plan and Progress Review (PPR), Engagement Survey, Reaffirmation of the Navigators Code of Conduct, Calling-Core Values-Vision, Statement of Faith, Driver’s Authorization, and other releases as required. - Submit time worked on a weekly basis through the Workday time tracking system. - Submit expense reports, due the 15th of each month. - Other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications - Spiritual: Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators. Knowledge of Navigator missions, ministries, and networks preferred. - Experience: At least three years of grant and/or technical writing in the Christian non-profit sector. - Technical Knowledge & Skills: Microsoft Office proficiency. Strong organizational skills. - Communication & Leadership: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including verbal & written, to create understanding and build strong relationships required. - Education: Bachelor’s degree or college coursework required.
