Senior Manager, Operations

Housecall Pro

Role Description As a Senior Manager, Accounting Solutions, you own the strategy and operating model for our full suite of small-business financial service offerings, including bookkeeping, payroll, and tax solutions, and shape what that ecosystem becomes. You are stepping into a position designed to challenge the status quo in an environment where our service division is growing quickly, the tooling landscape is changing fast, and we are betting on AI and automation to fundamentally reshape how comprehensive accounting and compliance workflows get delivered. We need a strategic leader who will lean into that change, reimagine how our business solutions function operates, and bring a high-performing multi-disciplinary team through a period of rapid evolution. You set the vision for scalable, technology-enabled financial services, make deliberate bets on where to automate and where to invest in people, and translate an ambiguous, shifting environment into clear direction for your team. You partner across product, fintech, strategic operations, and go-to-market to align our business solutions with where the company and the market are heading, not just where they are today. Our team is passionate, empathetic, hard working, and above all else focused on improving the lives of our service professionals (our Pros). Our success is their success. What you do Each Day - Set the strategic roadmap for business solutions offerings, spanning bookkeeping, payroll, and tax services, to anticipate customer requirements and market shifts. - Reimagine how diverse financial services are delivered to small businesses by identifying where automation, AI, and specialized tooling can step-change delivery quality. - Establish advanced, scalable operating models for multi-functional service workflows, including financial reconciliation, tax preparation, and payroll distribution pipelines. - Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of financial service professionals, driving the organizational adaptability needed to thrive amid evolving product capabilities. - Define the operational key performance indicators (KPIs) that matter for accuracy, multi-product retention, and customer satisfaction to make highly data-informed decisions. - Partner cross-functionally with product, marketing, and fintech teams to continuously co-develop and expand our integrated accounting software solutions. - Leverage the collective expertise of your team to solve complex accounting, tax, or regulatory compliance challenges faced by our users. - Steer internal operational changes across immediate business lines to ensure seamless, unified service experiences for customers utilizing multiple backend solutions. Qualifications - 8+ years leading operations, ideally within a scaling service-division environment focused on bookkeeping, payroll, tax, or unified small-business financial solutions. - Experience managing teams of 25+ members, including remote operational structures, with a proven ability to scale and transform multi-disciplinary service capabilities. - Proven experience driving team efficiency or output quality through the strategic use of AI tools and automation. - Track record of serving as a modernizing operations leader who establishes clear strategy within structural ambiguity rather than maintaining legacy procedures. - Broad working understanding of accounting principles, modern payroll compliance, and commercial tax workflows sufficient to guide sound operating process design. - Effective cross-functional collaboration skills required to smoothly align complex service workflows with broader product and platform roadmaps. - Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or equivalent work experience. Requirements - Hands-on experience deploying modern automation or financial orchestration tools within an operational service context. - Experience working with home services professionals, contractors, or similar industry segments. - Strong analytical skills with a focus on cross-functional efficiency and data integrity. - Knowledge of industry best practices in integrated accounting platforms, tax systems, and modern payroll technology. - CPA, EA, or similar industry-standard professional financial certification is a plus. - A multi-dimensional background with a breadth of cross-functional interests or depth of specialized mastery. - Personal resilience to learn from scratch, and successfully thrive in ambiguity. Benefits - A generous benefits program that supports the whole you with medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and 401(k). - Paid holidays and flexible, take-it-as-you-need-it paid time off. - Equity in a rapidly growing startup backed by top-tier VCs. - Monthly tech reimbursements. - A culture built on innovation that values big ideas, no matter where they come from.

Role Description Our Finance team is looking for a Finance Manager to join us in helping people get their best sleep yet. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Finance, you’ll serve as a strategic finance partner and analytical engine for our business—owning forecasting, scenario modeling, and business partnership across key functions including the Product, Operations, People, Customer Support, and Design/Engineering. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of rigorous financial modeling and cross-functional influence. You’ll be building the analytical frameworks that drive how we invest, operate, and grow—and you’ll bring a point of view to every conversation. This role is remote-friendly but must be based in the U.S. or Canada. Hatch is based in California, so we ask that you’re available during PST/PDT hours. What You’ll Do - Forecasting & Financial Modeling - Own the cost, cash flow, and 3-statement consolidated financial model for quarterly reforecasts and long-range planning. - Maintain the COGS rate card and ensure forecast assumptions stay aligned with operational reality. - Support investor and board reporting packages with well-structured forecasts and clear narratives on financial performance and outlook. - Strategic Business Partnership - Serve as a business finance partner bringing financial rigor to initiative planning, performance tracking, and investment decisions. - Partner with the Growth team to connect initiatives to financial outcomes, surfacing the key drivers of subscription conversion and retention. - Collaborate with Operations on inventory management and BOM/shipping/fulfillment cost efficiencies. - Partner with Analytics on metrics alignment, data infrastructure, and improving dashboarding capabilities to drive better, faster decisions. - Partner with the People team on headcount forecasting and team investment planning, ensuring alignment between hiring plans and the financial model. - Strategic Analysis & Scenario Modeling - Build unit economics reporting and analytical tools to help the business understand hardware margin drivers by product and sales channel. - Support accounting sync activities as an analytical bridge between FP&A and accounting. - Process Improvement & Tools - Drive automation and efficiency improvements across recurring workflows, including leveraging AI tools & building AI agents. - Proactively identify opportunities to reduce manual effort and build more scalable, repeatable processes across the Finance team. Qualifications - 6+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, ideally in a consumer or subscription business. - Strong financial modeling skills with deep familiarity with integrated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow models. - A natural collaborator who can translate complex financial analysis into clear, compelling narratives for non-finance audiences. - Demonstrated ability to build business cases and scenario models that influence real decisions. - Advanced Excel skills; experience with NetSuite or similar ERP a plus; comfort with BI tools such as Hex. - Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment. - A process improvement mindset—you look for ways to automate, streamline, and level up how the team operates. - Comfortable working in ambiguity and building structure where it doesn’t yet exist. - BA/BS in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related quantitative field. - Bonus points if you have investment banking experience. Benefits - 100% paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees (80% for dependents, including domestic partners). - Meaningful equity—you’re an owner here. - 401(k) match (no vesting schedule!). - 16 weeks of fully paid parental leave. - 16 free therapy sessions (for you + one other adult in your life). - Financial support for family planning. - Remote office + monthly internet reimbursement. - Friends & family discounts on Hatch products. - Exclusive discounts on travel, entertainment, and top retail brands. - And so many more spontaneous perks!
