The Teaching & Learning department is seeking applications for an AI Literacy Librarian (Assistant Librarian / entry level rank). The Opportunity: The AI Literacy Librarian will collaborate with librarians and faculty to design instruction, outreach, and assessment which will promote baseline critical thinking around the use, evaluation, and ethics of AI. The successful candidate will also serve as a lead partner for the library’s in-house professional development efforts concerning AI and related digital tools. This role is a primarily creative, collaborative, and strategic one, perfect for information professionals with a strong interest in contributing to undergraduate learning. Reporting to the Head of Teaching and Learning, the AI Literacy Librarian will help to grow a new department. The Teaching and Learning unit will champion the integration of multiple literacies across the curriculum, foster pedagogical innovation, and lead efforts to assess the impact of undergraduate educational initiatives. This work will be developed in close collaboration with the Head of Teaching and Learning, and this librarian will receive various forms of mentorship and training as part of an organizational culture dedicated to professional growth. Librarians at Cornell University hold academic appointments as Research, Teaching, and Extension faculty. The incumbent must meet Cornell University Library requirements for Research, Teaching, and Extension (RTE) faculty promotion and reappointment through engagement in service and scholarship activities.
