Construction Estimator / Bid Coordinator

Role Description We are seeking a detail-oriented Remote Construction Estimator / Bid Coordinator to review construction plans, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate cost estimates and submit competitive bids for commercial and residential construction projects. The ideal candidate has experience reading blueprints, performing quantity takeoffs, analyzing project requirements, and preparing professional estimates. Experience with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and interior finish plans is highly preferred. Responsibilities - Review construction drawings, specifications, and bid documents. - Perform detailed quantity takeoffs from plans and blueprints. - Analyze architectural, structural, civil, MEP, and finish schedules. - Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors. - Identify project scope, inclusions, exclusions, and potential risks. - Request and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing. - Prepare and submit bid proposals before deadlines. - Track bid opportunities and maintain bid calendars. - Communicate with project managers, contractors, vendors, and clients regarding bid requirements. - Review addendums and update estimates as required. - Assist with value engineering and cost-saving recommendations. - Maintain estimating databases, pricing libraries, and bid records. - Generate bid summaries, scope sheets, and proposal documents. - Participate in pre-bid meetings and project hand-off discussions when awarded. Qualifications - Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. - Experience performing material takeoffs and quantity surveys. - Knowledge of commercial and residential construction methods. - Understanding of architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and interior finish systems. - Proficiency with estimating software such as: - PlanSwift - Bluebeam Revu - STACK - ProEst - Buildertrend - Microsoft Excel - Strong mathematical and analytical skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills in American English. - Ability to manage multiple bids and meet strict deadlines. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Requirements - 2+ years of construction estimating experience. - Experience bidding commercial projects such as restaurants, retail spaces, offices, tenant fit-outs, and food halls. - Experience reviewing design development and construction document sets. - Knowledge of subcontractor pricing and procurement processes. - Familiarity with RFIs, change orders, and construction contracts. Performance Expectations - Complete accurate takeoffs and estimates. - Submit bids on time with minimal revisions. - Maintain organized bid tracking and project documentation. - Identify scope gaps and potential cost risks before submission. - Support project teams with budgeting and preconstruction planning. - Reliable internet connection and computer. - Quiet remote work environment. - Ability to work independently and manage deadlines. - Experience with construction plan review and estimating software is required.
