Role Description The Registered Nurse (RN) Nurse Manager practices in VISN 19 Clinical Contact Center Virtual Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The Nurse Manager provides clinical practice, consultation, and management. - The Nurse III Veterans Affairs (VA) Clinical Contact Center (CCC) Nurse Manager (NM) is the designated first-line supervisory authority responsible for the supervisory/managerial direction of nursing staff and for the nursing operations of the CCC. - Assists the Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) VA Health Connect Chief Nurse with administrative and clinical functions targeted to promote comprehensive care services for the Veteran. - Requires expert nursing skills to perform clinical triage and effectively coordinate, develop, implement, and sustain the education and training of staff. - Self-directed in goal setting in complex situations and manages competing priorities while providing quality nursing care to a complex patient population through the care continuum. - Responsible and accountable for 24/7 operations of the VISN-based program, ensuring timely nursing care that complies with accepted standards of clinical practice. - May serve as the Acting VISN CCC Chief Nurse. - Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team. - Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based programs/processes. - Engages in professional organizations to enhance leadership and career growth. - Adheres to ethical principles in decision-making, fostering accountability at personal, organizational, and staff levels. - Equips staff with tools for competent care and promotes accountability for high-quality, cost-effective outcomes. - Cultivates alliances across the care continuum, building trust through active listening, engagement, and emotional intelligence. - Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. - Ensures compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards. - Aligns nursing/clinical objectives with organizational strategic outcomes, participating in strategy planning and execution. - Promotes a workplace to achieve the organization's vision and mission. - Maintains knowledge and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, Directives, policies, and standard operating procedures (SOP). Qualifications - English Language Proficiency. - Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency. - Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States. - Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) Exception: Candidates who meet the basic education requirements but do not possess the required licensure may be appointed temporarily while pursuing licensure. Requirements - Basic education and licensure requirements as outlined in the job description. - Grade Determinations based on Scope, Education, and Dimension criteria. - Physical Requirements as per VA Handbook 5019.
