Senior Data Scientist, Fraud
Moniepoint Inc. (Formerly TeamApt Inc.)
• Model Development: Prototype, evaluate, and help productionize machine learning models for fraud detection; own their ongoing monitoring and retraining cycles. • Experimentation: Design and run experiments to measure the impact of fraud interventions, balancing customer experience against loss reduction. • Risk Assessment: Size fraud typologies across our product lines to inform prioritisation and investment decisions. • System Maintenance: Build and maintain anomaly detection systems to surface novel fraud vectors before they scale. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with fraud operations, engineers, product managers, and data analysts to translate model outputs into real-world mitigations.
Job Requirements
- A strong foundation in statistics with a degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or similar)
- 5+ years of experience in data science, decision science, or risk analytics within fraud, payments, or financial crime
- Hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models in a production environment, fraud, risk, or financial services experience is a strong plus
- Solid grounding in data science fundamentals: experimentation, statistical inference, model evaluation, and feature engineering
- Proficiency in Python and SQL; comfort working across the full model development lifecycle
- An investigative instinct, you enjoy digging into data to find patterns others miss
- The ability to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders and translate insights into action
- Comfort working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams with high ownership expectations

Role Description Dans le cadre de l'expansion de Djamo, nous recherchons un·e Data Scientist Staff – Crédit & Fraude pour prendre la responsabilité technique senior d'un des sujets les plus critiques de notre activité : décider qui a accès au crédit, et protéger nos utilisateurs contre la fraude, à grande échelle. Rattaché·e à la Head of Data, vous serez la voix technique la plus senior en matière de crédit et de fraude au sein de l'équipe Data. Ce n'est pas seulement un rôle de construction de modèles : vous définirez l'orientation technique de la manière dont Djamo évalue le risque de crédit, détecte la fraude et gère le risque à mesure que nous nous développons sur de nouveaux marchés et produits. Vos responsabilités principales : - Définir la stratégie technique et la roadmap pour le risque de crédit et la détection de fraude. - Concevoir, construire et déployer des modèles statistiques et de machine learning de qualité de production. - Définir les standards techniques et les bonnes pratiques pour la fonction data science. - Collaborer étroitement avec les équipes dirigeantes Engineering, Produit, Risque et Opérations. - Explorer et défendre de nouvelles manières d'utiliser l'IA/ML pour le crédit, la prévention de la fraude et l'inclusion financière. Qualifications - Master ou doctorat en data science, informatique, statistiques, ingénierie ou domaine connexe. - Au moins 7 ans d'expérience en analyse de données à grande échelle, machine learning et modélisation prédictive. - Une bonne maîtrise de l'anglais. - La connaissance du cadre réglementaire et prudentiel régissant le crédit et la fraude dans la région est un atout.
