Casualty Loss Adjuster
MDD Forensic Accountants
- Liaison with Insurers, Policyholders and Brokers - Investigation of allocated claims in the field or from the desk - Compilation of all necessary evidence and relevant documentation - Preparation of Preliminary Reports detailing the evidence available and commenting upon - Policy Indemnity, Legal Liability, Quantum, and Tactics - Determine appropriate action for resolution of the case - Defend or negotiate settlement where appropriate, within agreed authority limits - Correspond with all parties professionally to proactively progress the case to conclusion - Investigate and handle all cases in accordance with the client’s requirements by referral to documented procedures at all times - Maintain a proper reserve at all times by regular review - Keep updated on any technical changes relevant to your role including participating in training programmes facilitated by the company - All Staff are expected to carry out any reasonable instruction given by their line manager, in line with business requirements.
Job Requirements
- Previous Loss Adjuster experience
- Experience of investigating and handling Casualty Claims
- Knowledge of insurance and the insurance market
- Knowledge of legal principles, regulations, Acts and the like
- Knowledge of Civil procedure Rules and the Claims Portal
- Good communications skills at all levels
- Excellent customer service
- The ability to work as part of a team
- Good planning and organisational skills
- Take responsibility for your own workload
- Must be able to demonstrate adaptability and flexibility
- Strong IT Skills
- A full drivers licence is essential

• Investigate claims against insurance or other companies for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages • Attempt to effect out-of-court settlement with claimant • Handle complex losses locally unassisted up to designated authority • Assist on larger losses, including handling accounting-based losses (business interruption and stock) • Examine claim form and other records to determine insurance coverage • Interview, telephone, or correspond with claimant and witnesses regarding claim • Consult police and hospital records; and inspect property damage to determine extent of company's liability • Estimate cost of repair, replacement, or compensation • Prepare report of findings and negotiate settlement with claimant • Recommend litigation by legal department when settlement cannot be negotiated • Attend litigation hearings • Revise case reserves in assigned claims files to cover probable costs • Assist in preparing loss experience report to help determine profitability and calculates adequate future rates

• The Adjuster III investigates, evaluates, and adjusts assigned claims, which typically consist of medium to complex non-litigated and litigated general liability, third-party automobile bodily injury and property damage claims. • Must be qualified legally and technically to handle all claims competently and able to handle more complex, litigated claims. • Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of the client’s liability concerning personal, casualty, or property loss or damages. • Correspond with or interview employees of the client, medical specialists, agents, witnesses, or claimants to compile information. • Obtain all necessary reports and documents to analyze and evaluate the loss or damages and attempt to effect settlements with claimants when appropriate. • Assess and estimate vehicle damage or property damage. • Compile information through interviews. Examine evidence to determine if it will support claims. • Gather physical evidence and inspect properties to determine damages.
