Role Description As a Field Geophysicist / Field Geologist (Associate Scientist), you will support MMRP (Military Munitions Response Program) and HTRW (Hazardous, Toxic, and Radioactive Waste) investigations and remediation projects. Under the supervision of Site Geophysicists, Site Geologists, and Site Managers, you will receive training and gain knowledge of geophysical and geological data collection techniques, knowledge of sampling techniques, and leadership skills in the field. Mastering these skills will allow you to confidently become a Field Team Lead and/or a Site Geophysicist/Geologist on future project sites. You will also support the project management team prior to and after field work by providing technical writing support for work plan development and report preparation, furthering your understanding of the overall environmental process and project progression. What you will be doing: - Conducting quality control tests and collecting digital geophysical data. - Acquiring EM61-MK2, G-858, UltraTEM, and APEX data. - Conducting or monitoring daily quality control tests of equipment and methods and documenting test results. - Completing field work efforts for environmental investigations, including overseeing drilling, conducting low flow groundwater monitoring, push-ahead groundwater sampling, surface water and sediment sample collection, and soil sample collection. - Performing basic geologic, hydrogeologic, and hydrochemistry tasks including preparation of cross sections and drilling logs, compiling environmental sample data and conducting analyses. - Supporting the project team by assisting with technical writing for work plan development and report preparation before and after the field effort. Qualifications - Four-year degree in geophysics, geology, or related field and 0+ years experience. - Good written and oral communication skills. - Experience with Microsoft Suite. Requirements - Experience with field geophysical data acquisition using EM61-MK2, G-858, UltraTEM, or APEX (desired, but not required). - Experience with field geophysical data acquisition using RTK GPS, RTS, or SLAM positioning equipment. - Performing anomaly reacquisition using EM61-MK2, and RTK GPS sensors. - Experience with ArcGIS or QGIS software. - Experience with Montaj, BT Field Software, and EMClass data processing software. - Performing field and office tasks requiring the application of basic geophysical principles and theories. - Experience using MS Access databases. - Leadership qualities/experience. Special Job Requirements - Unless already completed, will be required to obtain OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training upon start (at company expense). - OSHA-required baseline physical and annual physicals thereafter (at company expense). - Fleet driver training (at company expense) and a clean driving record. - Extensive travel to field sites required - 80% plus travel initially. - Fieldwork involves performing physically demanding tasks and working 10-hour days (typically 4 to 5 10-hour days per week), potentially in adverse field conditions (cold, hot, high wind, dusty environment, rough terrain), and often in remote locations. Role Description Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction of structures and underground systems.
