• Lead the evaluation and implementation of an API gateway solution for the platform • Consolidate existing pipelines and create a blueprint covering security standards and best practices • Apply and transfer API gateway knowledge across cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) • Contribute to building and operating shared platform capabilities for application development teams

Job Requirements

  • Broad technical background across application development, cloud infrastructure, networking, security, and platform engineering
  • Previous experience building or contributing to an Internal Developer Platform, developer portal, or shared cloud platform
  • Hands-on experience with API gateway technologies such as Kong, Apache APISIX, Envoy, AWS API Gateway, Azure API Management, or similar
  • Good understanding of API security, authentication and authorization, traffic management, rate limiting, resilience, service discovery, and observability
  • Strong software engineering skills in Java or Kotlin
  • Practical experience with cloud platforms, containers, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and observability
  • Able to work exploratively with incomplete requirements and translate business or technical objectives into implementable solutions
  • Experience evaluating technical options, creating prototypes, documenting trade-offs, and presenting recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Used to taking end-to-end ownership in agile, cross-functional teams without fully specified tickets
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills; very good English (German is a plus)

Role Description Client is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help build a next-generation enterprise integration platform from the ground up. This team is leading a strategic initiative to re-platform away from MuleSoft and establish a scalable, cloud-native integration ecosystem built on modern microservices architecture. This role is focused on building the platform that enables integrations—not developing the integrations themselves. You will design and develop the foundational services, SDKs, observability capabilities, workflow orchestration, and platform tooling that enable internal teams to rapidly integrate with enterprise systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Coupa, and Kinaxis. The platform is currently in early infancy, MVP stage. - Design, build, and enhance core platform services using Python and microservices architectures. - Develop reusable SDKs, wrappers, and platform capabilities that accelerate integration development. - Build and support platform components including: - Event streaming and messaging (Kafka) - API management and governance - Secrets and configuration management - Observability, monitoring, and telemetry solutions - Workflow orchestration capabilities - Drive platform reliability, performance, and operational excellence. - Contribute to OpenTelemetry implementation and observability strategy.
