Role Description To provide guidance and instruction to students within the Huntsville City School System through teaching subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, responsible, and productive citizens. - Plans comprehensive, educational courses of study as approved by the HCS Board of Education. - Teaches assigned students in a manner that motivates students to succeed academically. - Provides a balanced program of individualized and group instruction, demonstration, activities, and work time. - Creates lesson plans that recognize the impact of a student's cultural, ethnic, and social background. - Guides students in the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. - Establishes and enforces appropriate classroom rules and procedures. - Collaborates with other teachers to evaluate and discuss students' needs and progress. - Works with HCS staff to make necessary accommodations for students as required by IEPs and 504 plans. - Communicates effectively with students' parents to establish rapport and discuss academic progress. - Updates student records regarding daily attendance and earned grades. - Assesses the advancement and accomplishments of students on an ongoing basis. - Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state testing programs. - Provides leadership to classroom assistants as applicable. - Organizes and supervises class field trips and other approved educational activities. - Operates responsibly and monitors students in the use and care of computers and other district equipment. - Collects and maintains accurate documentation for preparing reports and complying with policies. - Ensures availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day. - Notifies appropriate personnel regarding evidence of child abuse/neglect and severe conditions. - Maintains familiarity with the school's safety plan and contributes to a safe school environment. - Participates in staff meetings and approved professional development programs. - Performs other job-related duties as required. Qualifications - A Bachelor's Degree in Education from an accredited university. - Valid Alabama teaching certification with appropriate subject area endorsement(s) and grade level. Requirements - Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly. Terms of Employment - Nine month year. - Salary as recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board.

Role Description The Training Coordinator is a subject matter expert on workforce development for people with disabilities.
