Senior Information Management Specialist

Role Description This is a remote consulting opportunity supporting a government client. This is not an employee position. The successful consultant must be incorporated and able to provide services through their corporation. The Senior Information Management Specialist provides specialized expertise to support the planning, development, and implementation of enterprise records and information management initiatives. The role focuses on: - Strengthening information governance - Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements - Advancing standardized approaches to managing records throughout their lifecycle The Senior Information Management Specialist supports major modernization initiatives including: - Digital workplace transformation - Records transfer planning - SharePoint migration activities - Policy development - Retention schedule updates - Enterprise information governance improvements Key Responsibilities - Provide subject matter expertise in the development and review of records and information management policies, standards, and guidelines - Support strategic planning initiatives related to EDRMS, digital workplace modernization, and information management transformation - Conduct current-state assessments and identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities - Promote standardized practices for the full lifecycle management of records and information assets - Support records transfer and migration planning activities including SharePoint and enterprise content management initiatives - Collaborate with departments, IM/IT teams, policy units, and external partners - Support implementation of enterprise initiatives including SharePoint and shared drive migration activities - Identify and assess risks related to records and information management - Support compliance readiness for audits, privacy requests, and legal inquiries - Contribute to business continuity and disaster recovery planning related to records and information assets - Support development of training materials, tools, and guidance documents - Prepare briefing materials, reports, and recommendations for senior leadership Key Deliverables - Enterprise records and information management frameworks and governance tools - Strategic planning and modernization outputs including roadmaps and business cases - Standardized records management tools and lifecycle management practices - SharePoint migration and information governance deliverables - Integrated information management requirements supporting enterprise initiatives - Business continuity and disaster preparedness measures related to information assets - Executive reporting and decision-support materials Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Information Technology, or a related field - Professional certification such as CRM, CIMP, or IGP considered an asset Requirements - 15+ years of progressive experience in Records and Information Management supporting enterprise-wide information governance initiatives - Demonstrated experience leading records and information management procurement, vendor engagement, and partnership activities - Proven ability to develop business cases, funding submissions, and strategic plans for information management initiatives - Extensive experience in electronic records management and data retention - Strong expertise in SharePoint and enterprise content management systems including migration, governance, and administration - Solid understanding of information governance, records management principles, and regulatory compliance frameworks - Working knowledge of IT infrastructure, information security principles, and enterprise file storage systems - Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills
