Role Description LMIC is seeking an experienced and proactive public relations and communications professional to support and strengthen the organization's growing PR function during an 18-month parental leave coverage term. This temporary full-time employee position offers an opportunity to play a key role in advancing LMIC's strategic communications, media relations, and stakeholder engagement efforts across Canada. The position will work closely with internal subject matter experts, leadership, and external partners to support integrated communications campaigns, research dissemination, and external visibility efforts aligned with LMIC’s broader marketing and communications strategy. Key Responsibilities - Public relations execution and media relations: - Support and strengthen LMIC’s public relations activities and media outreach efforts. - Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media contacts across relevant sectors. - Develop and maintain targeted media lists aligned with LMIC’s priority audiences. - Draft pitches, press releases, media responses, briefing notes, and related communications materials. - Monitor media opportunities and identify timely outreach opportunities aligned with organizational priorities. - Coordinate media interviews, requests, and related communications activities. - Thought leadership and external communications: - Translate research findings and organizational priorities into accessible and engaging communications for external audiences. - Draft and edit op-eds, key messages, speaking points, external communications materials, and thought leadership content. - Work closely with internal subject matter experts and leadership to support external storytelling and visibility opportunities. - Support the promotion and dissemination of LMIC research, tools, events, and organizational initiatives. - Integrated communications and campaign support: - Support campaigns tied to research launches, organizational announcements, and strategic initiatives. - Coordinate PR activities with broader digital, social media, and marketing and communications efforts. - Help ensure consistency across external messaging, marketing and communications materials, and brand positioning. - Contribute ideas and recommendations that strengthen LMIC’s visibility, credibility, and thought leadership. - Performance and reporting support: - Contribute to the development and improvement of PR workflows, templates, tracking systems, and supporting documentation. - Track media coverage, outreach efforts, and PR performance metrics. - Support reporting and evaluation activities related to communications and PR performance. - Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, coordination, and media engagement processes. - Stakeholder engagement and organizational support: - Support external engagement with partners, stakeholders, and collaborators across the labour market information ecosystem. - Contribute to proactive reputation management and communications planning activities.
