Role Description This is a remote position. We’re hiring a hands-on Front-end Software Engineer to build and take ownership of marketing-related web projects, working closely with the Marketing team to evolve our web presence. In this role, you’ll: - Write production-quality code and own the technical delivery of projects such as landing pages, campaign pages, website updates, and other marketing content. - Help plan and drive these projects from idea to release, defining scope, managing priorities, coordinating stakeholders, and working with external agencies where needed. - Collaborate with marketing specialists, designers, and developers to ensure our digital experiences are fast, scalable, accessible, and aligned with our brand. We support remote working in the UK and European Union with flexible working hours. Qualifications - 4+ years of hands-on front-end experience building production web apps, preferably in marketing-related roles. - Strong software project ownership skills, with experience planning work, managing scope and priorities, coordinating with external agencies, and driving projects through to delivery with limited supervision. - Working knowledge of technical SEO best practices (site performance, semantic HTML, structured data, crawlability). You don't need to be an SEO specialist, but you should be able to spot issues and suggest fixes without being asked. - Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and Angular 13. Willingness to work with other frameworks as required. - Solid grasp of UX concepts and UI design principles; experience with design systems and rapid prototyping. - Familiarity with tooling such as Git, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines. - Excellent English communication skills: able to distill complex topics and align cross-functional teams. - Familiarity with static website generators such as Jekyll. - Bonus: exposure to application security concepts or a strong interest in learning them. Requirements - Ship code daily: Implement features, fix bugs, and jump on hot-fixes to keep the website fast and reliable. - Own marketing front-end projects: Take responsibility for the technical delivery of marketing-related web projects, from implementation and quality to performance, accessibility, and design-system usage. - Own technical SEO health: Proactively monitor and improve the site's technical SEO like page speed, crawlability, structured data, meta tags, redirects, Core Web Vitals, flagging issues and opportunities to Marketing rather than waiting to be asked. - Be framework-practical: Work in Angular 13 today and guide us toward modern patterns; React experience is welcome. What matters is your willingness to get your hands dirty and deliver. - Use agentic coding: Use AI-assisted and agentic coding to speed up implementation, prototyping, testing, and iteration while maintaining high standards for quality, security, and maintainability. - Connect Marketing and Engineering: Partner closely with Marketing, front-end, and other development teams to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and deliver high-quality web projects. - Own UX/UI quality: Champion a holistic view of UX and UI, prototype quickly, validate with users, and ensure consistent, accessible experiences. - Coordinate partners: Scope and manage external agencies and contractors; review their output for quality and maintainability. Role Description SOFTWARE DEVELOPER SENIOR What You’ll Do: - Define and drive the strategic direction for frontend engineering practices, tooling, and skillset across the organization. - Lead the development of accessible, performant, and user-centered web applications that serve government customers. - Serve as the technical authority and thought leader for frontend architecture and engineering excellence. - Design and implement modern frontend architectures, development pipelines, and deployment infrastructure. - Deliver new features and improvements to our customer-facing applications with a strong focus on user experience and accessibility compliance (Section 508, WCAG). - Collaborate with product managers to ideate and balance optimal UI/UX experience with implementation effort, making pragmatic trade-offs that deliver value. - Build and maintain component libraries, design systems, and shared frontend infrastructure that enable team velocity and consistency. - Identify opportunities to modernize our frontend stack and take ownership of technical initiatives that improve developer experience and application quality. - Establish and champion frontend best practices including mobile-first development, testing strategies, performance optimization, accessibility standards, and code quality patterns. - Mentor and coach engineers at all levels on frontend technologies and establish career development pathways for frontend specialization. - Influence technical decisions across teams and serve as a strategic advisor on frontend initiatives. - Work across the full stack when needed to solve problems end-to-end – backend experience is valuable but frontend is your primary focus. Qualifications - Demonstrated track record of leading and delivering multiple production-ready, accessible frontend applications. - Proven experience architecting and implementing modern frontend applications at scale using React and/or Angular. - Track record of establishing frontend engineering standards, practices, and tooling that improve team productivity and code quality. - Working experience with frontend build tooling, bundling strategies, and deployment pipelines (Webpack, Vite, pnpm, npm, or similar). - Strong understanding of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA minimum, Section 508 compliance) with practical implementation experience including accessibility linting (axe-core, eslint-pluginjsx-a11y) and automated accessibility testing in CI/CD pipelines. - Experience with automated frontend testing strategies including unit testing, component testing, and end-to-end UI testing with tools like Playwright, Cypress, or similar. - Familiarity with frontend infrastructure, CDN strategies, asset optimization, and progressive enhancement patterns. - Experience with design systems, component libraries, and maintaining consistency across multiple applications.
