• Help build and maintain components of the consolidated financial model across the annual operating plan, long-range plan, and monthly forecast cycles • Support the mechanics of the forecast cycle, including data intake, model updates, and variance analysis, that feed the consolidated outputs reviewed by senior leadership • Contribute to executive-facing financial deliverables, including the Weekly Business Review, monthly OpEx review, and quarterly Board and Audit Committee materials • Prepare clear variance analyses that help explain the "why" behind actuals vs. plan and forecast at both the consolidated and segment level • Partner with category, marketing, and ops finance counterparts to gather, pressure test, and consolidate inputs into a coherent corporate view • Build models from scratch that solve a problem or answer a business question • Identify opportunities to improve the planning and reporting infrastructure — leveraging AI, automation, and systems to reduce manual effort and elevate analytical quality • Perform ad-hoc projects, financial analyses, and presentations for finance leadership
Job Requirements
- B.S. in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in analytical financial roles such as strategic finance, FP&A, investment banking, and/or consulting
- Strong financial modeling skills, comfortable building multi-scenario P&Ls and supporting models from scratch
- Ability to manipulate large datasets
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate analyses into clear, structured narratives
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, able to multitask

Responsibilities The Business Services Directorate (BSD) delivers essential financial, contractual, and project management capabilities to Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) that are required as part of our management and operations contract to operate PNNL on behalf of the Department of Energy (DOE). Our Business Services Division (BSD) purpose in delivering these capabilities is to provide efficient, effective, and compliant business services in order to increase the scientific impact of PNNL. This position requires onsite work for a minimum of two days per week. When working remotely, PNNL employees are expected to maintain the same standards, requirements, and expectations of staff working onsite. When working remotely, staff should be ready to go onsite at short notice to meet business needs. This Finance & Accounting Professional position is split between the Tax and Insurance and Payroll Tax areas. The primary accountabilities are conformity with local, state, federal and international tax laws in order to ensure legal compliance and avoidance of fines and penalties as well as the protection of assets through proper risk management and insurance. This position will work closely with the Tax team and Payroll team at PNNL, as well as the Corporate Tax team and the Corporate Risk Manager at Battelle Columbus Operations (BCO). Job responsibilities may include: - Administer Foreign National staff onboarding and tax compliance processes by reviewing immigration and tax documentation, utilizing FNIS and Tax Navigator to determine tax residency status and treaty eligibility. Work with Payroll staff to ensure accurate Payroll tax withholding, reporting, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and international tax regulations. - Administer Tax and Insurance activities to ensure continual accountability and compliance in accordance with applicable IRS regulations and corporate policies.
