Job Description
IT Administrator – Polaris
Library Systems & Services, LLC
• Administer and maintain the Polaris ILS, including system configuration, permission management and user account creation across multiple library organizations • Support and troubleshoot circulation functions, including loans, holds, renewals, fine management and notifications, in alignment with each library’s individual policies • Manage system upgrades, releases, hotfixes and support cases in coordination with the vendor • Maintain patron database integrity, including registration workflows and data standards • Manage integrations with third-party services such as discovery layers, e-content providers, online payment systems and SIP2/NCIP/API authentication systems • Oversee bibliographic and item record integrity and support cataloging workflows • Assist with the creation of reports to support library operations, collection analysis and statistical reporting • Perform data clean-up, normalization and bulk record updates • Provide frontline and escalated support to library staff across all departments • Develop training materials and conduct staff training sessions for Polaris workflows • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated experience administering an ILS in a public library setting (Polaris ILS preferred but candidates with experience in comparable platforms will be considered)
- Strong customer service orientation with a solid understanding of circulation, patron services, cataloging and acquisitions workflows
- Familiarity with MARC records and library metadata standards
- Experience with SIP2, APIs, and system integrations
- Basic knowledge of Windows Server environments and networking concepts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical library staff
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and follow through on tasks without close supervision
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
