Job Description
Material Damage Specialist
Aspire General Insurance
• Under direction of Material Damage leadership, the Sr. Material Damage Field Appraiser performs the essential functions of the position • Ensures equitable settlement of damages and maintains good customer service and shop relations • Inspect and evaluate either in the field or virtually the degree of physical damage to vehicles for first and third party claims • Complete detailed summary of damage and estimate cost of repair based on knowledge of equipment, parts and present values • Present estimates and reach agreed upon price with repair facility, and confirm assessment of damages and costs • Negotiate settlements with related parties as necessary • Research actual cash value of vehicles and parts by gathering and analyzing current market information to reach a settlement for total losses • Take photographs of vehicle and physical damage to aid in the determination of liability and to substantiate findings • Perform re-inspections and/or authorize supplemental repairs as necessary to ensure quality service and thorough restoration of damage • Maintain communication with clients throughout repair process • Report initial evaluation and summary of damage • Explain relevant procedures • Respond to customer inquiries • Provide complete, courteous and timely customer service. • Keep abreast of current values of vehicles and parts • Ensure ongoing adjudication of claims within company standards and industry best practices and regulations • Produce grammatically correct and clearly written correspondence including letters, memos, reports and claim file documentation • Complies with state and federal laws, Department of Insurance criteria, insurance carrier criteria and follows and enforces Aspire General Insurance/partner’s policies, procedure and work rules • Writes appraisals using licensed software • Regular and predictable punctuality and attendance. • Other duties as necessary.
Job Requirements
- Five plus years’ experience in Property and Casualty insurance industry
- College degree preferred
- Must have a clear understanding of insurance industry practices, standards and terminology
- Five plus years of Auto vehicle estimating, all types of vehicle damage claims and repairs and total losses including the most complex repairs with moderate management oversight
- Will assist supervisor in the onboarding and assimilation of new team members
- Must be able to pass a background check with the anticipated goal of acquiring and maintaining a current Independent Adjuster License with the Department of Insurance
- Must have a disciplined approach to all job-related activities
- Must have a solid foundation of personal organization, sound decision making and analytical skills
