Public Health Officer
Columbia Shipmanagement
• This is a “jumper” role in the rotation between Public Health Admin & Public Health Officer within the same contract. • Responsible for driving and coordinating the execution of the company's shipboard Public Health and Outbreak Prevention and Response Plan (OPRP), ensuring the company's public health and infectious disease standards are met and/or exceeded onboard. • Cooperate and coordinate tasks, duties and responsibilities with Hotel Sanitation Officer / Hotel Sanitation Manager / Sanitation Engineer and with all shipboard Departments, to ensure understanding and implementation of Public Health and Outbreak Prevention and Response Plan (OPRP) requirements and related company policies and procedures. • Assessing the effectiveness of risk reduction, actions, and interventions. • Implement company policy and port state regulations that secure and ensure health and safety of the vessel, crew and guests. • Conduct Public Health and OPRP training for all Crew, Supervisors and Officers. • Perform other related duties as assigned or directed by Staff Captain
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Public Health & Hygiene or Environmental Health and Safety Supervisor from cruise or hotel industry is required.
- Additional Environmental waste management experience would be taken into consideration.
- Good verbal and written level of English.
- Must have SHIPSAN or other public health regulations training
- Must be able to demonstrate a deep understanding of multi-cultural sensitivity and communication skills.
- Must have very good organizational skills and show attention to detail.
- Must have confidence to use personal initiative and the ability to work independently.
- Must be able to perform under pressure and have the capability to solve problems.
- Must be service minded with an outgoing and friendly personality.
- Possess and be able to demonstrate with confidence and thorough understanding standards for Ship’s Sanitation.
