Job Description

Generator Field Technician – Commercial, LV/MV Electrical, Power Distribution, Mechanical, Microgrid, Data Center

PowerSecure, Inc.

• Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment • Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects • Daily travel with independent work structure • Provide 24x7 “on-call” services as required unless on PTO or Off Call • Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled • Customer contact and interface • Communicate availability status to corporate office • Complete all paperwork, including Field Service Reports, Time Sheets, Expense Reports, and other job required reports timely and accurately • Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments • Perform battery installations and replacements • Coordinate and manage all on-site subcontractors hired by PSS as necessary • Maintain company vehicle in safe and operational condition • Own and maintain personal set of mechanical tools

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Qualifications Level II Technician requires three years of field experience servicing generator systems
  • Proficient with preventative maintenance, retrofitting basic controls, minor ATS repairs and loadbanking equipment
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Related military experience or equivalent field experience
  • Ability to perform triennial maintenance, engine diagnostics, fuel system priming and replacing failed engine components
  • Operational and functional understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
  • Experience with or ability to quickly learn advanced generator and electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment in an advanced electric controls environment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, service manuals and policies and procedures
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Computer fluent, with specific attention to ERP systems, email and Microsoft Office products
  • Proven reasoning abilities and sound judgment
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
