Generator Field Technician – Commercial, LV/MV Electrical, Power Distribution, Mechanical, Microgrid, Data Center
PowerSecure, Inc.
• Responsible for ongoing maintenance and repair of contracted and non-contracted generator and power distribution equipment • Provide technical support to customers on operational or maintenance aspects • Daily travel with independent work structure • Provide 24x7 'on-call' services as required unless on PTO or Off Call • Perform required preventative maintenance service to equipment under contract as scheduled • Customer contact and interface • Maintain and safeguard company issued equipment, tools, and instruments • Battery installations and replacements • Coordinate and manage on-site subcontractors hired by PSS
Job Requirements
- Three years of field experience servicing generator systems
- Experience with 500kw+ generators
- Proficient with preventative maintenance
- Experience retrofitting basic controls, minor ATS repairs, and loadbanking equipment
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Related military experience or equivalent field experience
- Ability to perform triennial maintenance
- Engine diagnostics, fuel system priming, replacing failed engine components
- Operational understanding of Automatic Transfer Systems
- Able to troubleshoot and repair with minimal direction
- Ability to read and decipher electronic schematics
- Experience with advanced generator and electric system controls including Woodward, Beckwith, and PLC equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, safety manuals, and service manuals
- Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts
- Must observe all safety standards
