We empower businesses to make data-driven decisions by providing deep insights into their marketing campaigns and helping them understand what drives conversions. As a remote-first company, we foster a mission-focused and performance-driven culture, valuing integrity, initiative, and innovation. Position Overview We’re looking for a MySQL DBA with strong SQL optimization skills who can own both the operational health and the performance of our databases. You will be responsible for reliability, backups, and structure, and you should also enjoy writing and reviewing queries, tuning schemas, and collaborating with engineers to maintain clean, fast, and available data. In this role, you will: Administer and monitor our Amazon RDS MySQL environments, including configuration, upgrades, and patching. Analyze and tune queries and indexes for high-traffic workloads using tools such as slow query logs and execution plans. Design and evolve schemas so that new and existing features stay performant, consistent, and friendly to CDC. Plan, implement, and regularly test backups, point-in-time recovery, and disaster recovery procedures. Maintain database security, including access control, roles, encryption settings, and auditing where needed. Work closely with developers on schema changes, query reviews, and application-level performance issues. Support reporting and analytics by providing well-structured data models, views, and documented query patterns. Improve reliability through monitoring, alerting, and clear runbooks for incidents and failover. Take on SQL development work where deeper database knowledge is needed, for example complex reporting queries or refactoring legacy SQL. What we’re looking for: 3 to 5+ years as a Database Administrator working with MySQL or similar relational databases in production. Strong SQL skills, including query optimization, indexing strategy, and schema design. Hands-on experience with database administration: backups, recovery, scaling, and performance tuning, ideally on AWS RDS. Experience in planning and executing schema migrations and query refactoring in live systems. Comfortable working with AWS tooling around RDS, networking, and security. Strong focus on data integrity, automation, and monitoring and alerting for performance and reliability. Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and ready to take ownership of key database systems. Collaborative mindset, working closely with developers on schemas and queries, but also confident working independently. Experience with CDC, ETL, or high velocity data pipelines from RDS into reporting or frontend data stores is a plus, but not the primary focus of the role. Bonus: You’ve worked with SaaS, marketing, or call tracking data. You have experience in PHP, Python, or NoSQL.
