Role Description The Director, People & Culture is a dynamic, hands-on leadership position dedicated to driving operational excellence across TechSoup’s people practices. This individual serves as a trusted business partner to managers and staff, delivering expert guidance and support that fosters a positive, high-performing workplace. Reporting directly to the COO / EVP, Finance & Administration, the Director collaborates closely with the Director, People & Culture (Europe/Poland) to ensure global alignment and consistency throughout P&C operations. In addition, this role provides direct supervision to two People & Culture team members, playing an essential part in ensuring that performance management, training, and core people processes are managed efficiently, equitably, and are responsive to the needs of TechSoup’s distributed, global workforce. What You’ll Do - Business Partnership, Coaching & Manager Enablement - Serve as a primary People & Culture business partner to managers and staff, providing practical guidance on performance, feedback, team dynamics, and employee relations. - Provide hands-on coaching and consultation to managers on people-related topics, including navigating complex situations, strengthening leadership effectiveness, and fostering high-performing teams. - Support managers in effectively addressing and resolving team challenges, including conflict situations, interpersonal dynamics, and sensitive employee matters. - Coach and support managers in applying people policies consistently, fairly, and in alignment with TechSoup’s values. - Act as a trusted advisor during periods of change, growth, or organizational complexity. - People Operations & Program Ownership - Lead the execution and continuous improvement of core People & Culture operations, including onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compensation administration, benefits, and offboarding. - Ensure people programs and processes are operationally sound, well documented, and scalable across regions. - Oversee and support the implementation of global performance management cycles, manager enablement tools, and employee development processes. - Global Collaboration & Alignment - Partner closely with the Director, People & Culture (Europe/Poland) to ensure global alignment across people operations, performance management, learning, and training initiatives. - Coordinate cross regional execution of P&C programs while respecting local context and regulatory requirements. - Contribute to the development and refinement of global people standards, frameworks, and tools. - Team Leadership & Development - Directly supervise and support two People & Culture team members, setting clear priorities and fostering professional growth. - Build strong operating rhythms within the P&C team to ensure responsiveness, accountability, and service quality. - Model collaborative, people-centered leadership. - Compliance, Risk & Cross Functional Partnership - Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations across relevant jurisdictions, in partnership with Legal and Finance. - Support policy development, documentation, and governance. - Maintain high quality and accuracy of employee records; use people data and operational insights to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Qualifications - 7–9+ years of experience in People & Culture / HR roles, with significant responsibility for people operations and manager support. - Demonstrated experience partnering with managers as a trusted HR business partner. - Experience working in global, distributed, or multi-country organizations. - Strong operational mindset with the ability to execute reliably while improving systems over time. - Solid grounding in performance management, employee relations, and compliance. - Experience supervising and developing team members. - Commitment to equity, inclusion, and people-centered practices. - Experience in nonprofit, mission-driven, or complex organizations is a strong plus. Reporting to the Senior Director of People and Talent, this is a high-ownership role that sits at the intersection of HR operations and learning & development.
