Role Description We are looking for a Lead Consultant to anchor the technical delivery of Azure platform engagements in our Platform Services practice. This role is the landing zone and network subject matter expert on client projects. You will own the architecture, the design documentation, and the infrastructure as code that stands up secure, governed Azure foundations for enterprise clients. This is a hands-on, deeply technical consulting role. You will run the design workshops, author the artefacts, write the Bicep or Terraform, and set the technical direction other engineers build against. What You’ll Do - Azure Landing Zone Delivery: Design and deliver Azure Landing Zones and platform accelerators end to end. Lead the architecture for management groups, subscription topology, policy, identity, and governance, aligned to the Cloud Adoption Framework and Well-Architected Framework. Set the naming, tagging, and structure that every downstream workload inherits. - Network Architecture: Own the network design across engagements, including hub-and-spoke and Virtual WAN topologies, private connectivity, ExpressRoute, NSG and firewall rule sets, DNS and conditional forwarding, private endpoints, and routing. - Workshops & Design Documentation: Facilitate technical discovery and design workshops with client architects and engineers. Convert workshop decisions into clear Solution Architecture Documents, network designs, decision records, and as-built documentation. Your artefacts are the reference the delivery team and the client govern against. - Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain the landing zone and accelerator deployments as code in Bicep or Terraform. Establish reusable modules, parameterised environments, and CI/CD deployment pipelines. Bring the discipline that makes a platform repeatable, reviewable, and safe to change. - Technical Leadership on Engagements: Set the technical standard on the projects you lead. Review the work of platform engineers and contractors, resolve the hard design decisions, and keep delivery aligned to the architecture. Raise the technical quality of everyone delivering alongside you. Qualifications - Deep, hands-on experience designing and delivering Azure Landing Zones and platform accelerators for enterprise clients, aligned to CAF and Well-Architected. - Strong Azure networking expertise across hub-and-spoke and Virtual WAN, ExpressRoute, NSGs, Azure Firewall, private endpoints, private DNS, and routing. - Proven infrastructure as code delivery with Bicep or Terraform, including modular design, parameterised environments, and CI/CD deployment pipelines. - Track record authoring Solution Architecture Documents, network designs, decision records, and as-built documentation to a high editorial standard. - Confident facilitating technical workshops with client architects and engineers, and converting decisions into deliverable design. - Working knowledge of Azure identity, policy, and governance, including management groups, Entra, RBAC, and Azure Policy. - Comfortable acting as the technical lead on an engagement, setting standards and reviewing the work of other engineers. - Able to work autonomously in a remote-first environment while staying tightly connected to the delivery team. Nice to Have - Microsoft certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Network Engineer Associate. - Experience with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps pipelines for infrastructure deployment and policy as code. - Background in enterprise cloud migrations and landing zone remediation of existing estates. - Familiarity with Azure Verified Modules and the Azure Landing Zone accelerator (ALZ) reference implementations. - Experience designing and delivering Azure Virtual Desktop environments. - Exposure to FinOps practices and cost governance across platform environments. - Tertiary degree in computer science or a related field.
