Senior Cost Analyst

Sargent & Lundy

• Apply technical skills to meet project team and client needs for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting project cost performance • Interface directly with project management, client management, and site personnel for budget development and cost metrics • Implement project controls tools and methodology • Support month end closing and phase gate processes, coordination, production, management, reporting and analysis of cost information • Support the establishment of project original and approved budgets • Work with project stakeholders to establish cost baselines • Develop project forecasts and review project forecasts with Project Managers • Monitor and analyze actual project costs, calculate variances and document variance explanations • Assemble supporting documentation to meet project team and client needs • Analyze data and build reports to support monitoring and decision making

Job Requirements

  • Familiarity with the practical application of project controls
  • 5 or more years of project experience
  • Post-secondary graduate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Eager to learn new skills and develop knowledge
  • Committed to delivering high quality, accurate deliverables with attention to detail
  • Working knowledge in MS Office tools, with emphasis on the advanced use of MS Excel and/or PowerBI
  • Working knowledge in SAP

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-4:00 pm The Financial Analyst applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare reports to meet internal and external reporting requirements. Working closely with program managers to interpret the company's financial results, the analyst prepares annual budgets and provides financial support to ensure sound business decisions. Key Responsibilities: - Oversight of the monthly financial activities for selected programs. - Review monthly income statement, prepare journal entries and provide explanations for material budget variances. - Work closely with program managers to summarize the financial performance of their programs on a monthly basis. - Participate in the monthly closing meetings with Senior Management. - Prepare annual internal and external budgets. - Prepare and/or participate in program viability assessments. - Assist in preparation of annual cost reports, audit supplemental schedules and program specific reports as requested. - Ability to work independently with all levels of management and programmatic staff. - Strict adherence to assigned deadlines.
