Role Description Crafty Apes is looking for a talented Senior FX Artist to join our team in Sydney. The perfect candidate is a team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and embraces individuality and creativity. - Collaborate with Supervisors and Production to create high-quality visual effects for assigned shows. - Meet all project milestones, adhering to show schedules and production deadlines. - Ensure all work integrates seamlessly within the company’s existing pipeline. - Produce compelling look-tests based on provided reference materials and creative briefs. - Exhibit problem-solving skills and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. - Demonstrate strong communication skills, effectively taking direction and collaborating with team members and management. Qualifications - Minimum of 5 years of professional experience using Houdini for FX creation, including proficiency with relevant Houdini FX plugins. - Knowledge of Embergen is a real plus! - Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Arts, Fine Arts, or equivalent professional production experience. - Solid understanding and practical experience in one or more of the following areas: - Rigid body and particle dynamics - Volume modeling and rendering - Procedural geometry generation - Fluid dynamics - Strong foundational understanding of physical dynamics and natural phenomena. - Experience with other professional 3D software packages, such as 3ds Max or Maya, is a plus! - Scripting proficiency is a plus! - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to take precise direction from show leads and supervisors.
