• Generates/composes/drafts correspondence and various legal documents and forms. • Organizes and maintains electronic files related to current cases and various legal matters. • Dockets and calendars legal appearances and filing deadlines. • Provides administrative support to attorneys with depositions, medical examinations, court and arbitration hearings, and works with retained experts. • Juggles calendar and does scheduling with follow-up tasks. • E-file documents with the court. • Understanding of what is happening with a file and being proactive when necessary.
Job Requirements
- 3 – 5 years of experience as a Legal Secretary or equivalent.
- Knowledge of legal terminology and of proper formats for legal documents, legal procedures, and document editing skills.
- California Court venue understanding and familiarity with local rules, as well as knowledge of e-filing process with various California courts.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Ability to manage in a strictly electronic (paperless) environment.
- Strong PC skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office product skills, including but not limited to Office 365, TEAMS, and OneDrive.
- Skilled in working with Adobe and utilizing and manipulating PDF documents.
- Demonstrated knowledge of legal software applications.
- Must have the ability to handle and respond to sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
- Ability to file using alpha-numeric systems.
- Advanced knowledge of practice areas and legal procedures.
