FOIA Legal Assistant

Moaddel Law Firm

• Conduct introductory calls with immigration clients and provide exceptional customer service • Coordinate and collect immigration-related information and supporting documents from clients • File and track FOIA requests with agencies including USCIS, EOIR, CBP, FBI, ICE, and OBIM • Review FOIA receipt numbers and monitor case progress • Schedule FOIA follow-up tasks every 30 days to track results and case status • Assemble FOIA packets and prepare files for attorney review • Maintain and update FOIA tracking spreadsheets and case records • Save and organize FOIA results within Clio and other internal systems • Coordinate communication between attorneys, legal assistants, and clients • Manage incoming calls, emails, text messages, and client inquiries • Schedule client appointments for signatures, fingerprints, and consultations • Draft case closure letters and client communications when required • Process modified retainers and service upgrades as needed • Maintain accurate case files and ensure compliance with firm procedures

Job Requirements

  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish
  • 2+ years of FOIA filing, FOIA review, or immigration legal assistant experience
  • Legal Education Background or interest
  • Strong understanding of FOIA processes and immigration-related documentation
  • Excellent customer service and client communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and document accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and case-related tasks simultaneously
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working with case management systems such as Clio or similar platforms preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Capable of summarizing large volumes of information and documentation after review
  • Enjoys working independently while maintaining productivity in a remote environment
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to identify and escalate issues appropriately
  • Professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive client information
  • Ability to receive payments in USD via PayPal
