Mechanical Services Estimator

Role Description Looking for Philippines-based candidates Job Role: Mechanical Services Estimator Compensation range: $2,000 - $3,000 AUD/month Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 5 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time. The Estimator prepares accurate air conditioning and ventilation designs and quotes for the company’s high-end residential and commercial projects. The estimator turns architectural drawings and tender documents into a clear design (using Plandroid) and a priced quote (using Simpro). The goal is fast, correct, profitable quotes that the sales team can submit to builders, developers, and facilities clients and follow up. Key Responsibilities - Read and understand building plans, mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender documents. - Design air conditioning and ventilation systems in Plandroid (correct equipment sizing, duct layout, zoning, ventilation). - Choose the right brands, equipment, and system types for each project. - Build accurate quotes in Simpro using the correct costs, labour, and margins. - Follow the company’s estimating standards and templates every time. - Allow for commercial requirements: staging, access, lead times, and any tender conditions. - Keep quotes consistent, tidy, and on-brand. - Ask questions early when plans, specs, or tender requirements are unclear. - Hand the finished quote to the sales team and provide a short summary so they can submit and follow up. - Keep records and files organised in the shared drive and in Simpro. - Meet agreed turnaround times for each quote, including tender deadlines. Qualifications - Experience in commercial HVAC estimating, or strong technical drawing/mechanical background. - Able to read construction plans, mechanical drawings, and specifications. - Comfortable learning software (Plandroid and Simpro will be taught). - Good written English — clear enough to write quote notes, tender clarifications, and emails. - Accurate, detail-focused, and reliable with deadlines (including tender deadlines). - Good internet connection and a quiet place to work. Nice to have - Previous Plandroid or Simpro experience. - Knowledge of commercial brands and systems (Daikin, Mitsubishi VRF, ducted, etc.). - Experience quoting tenders and working to builder/developer requirements. - Understanding of ventilation and commercial mechanical requirements. Performance Expectations - Accuracy: Designs and quotes are correct the first time, with few revisions needed. - Speed: Commercial quotes turned around within the agreed time, and always before tender deadlines. - Margin: Quotes are priced to hit the company’s target margins (not under-priced). - Consistency: Every quote follows the company’s templates and standards. - Communication: Clear notes for sales; questions asked early, not after a mistake. Work Arrangement & Expectations This is a remote role that will be set up as an independent contractor engagement. To ensure alignment and transparency, successful candidates will be expected to: - Disclose any existing ongoing roles or client work. - Reflect this engagement on their LinkedIn profile (clearly marked as “Independent Contractor”).
