Database Administrator
Niyam IT
• Design, implement, and maintain relational databases (MS SQL Server, Oracle) and cloud-based data warehouse solutions, including Azure Synapse Analytics. • Evaluate, recommend, and configure DBMS products to meet agency or project requirements. • Define database schema, indexing strategies, and data organization to optimize performance and query efficiency. • Collaborate with security teams to configure and enforce data access policies, including row-level security, column-level security, and data masking. • Develop and maintain ETL processes for data ingestion, transformation, and synchronization between multiple systems (e.g., Salesforce, agency-specific applications). • Analyze existing database configurations and schemas, identifying gaps and implementing enhancements to support consistent, high-quality data structures. • Integrate Azure Synapse with other Azure services, including Blob Storage, Data Factory, Analytics Service, Power BI, and SSRS. • Optimize database performance, monitor workloads, and manage resource prioritization to ensure timely reporting and efficient processing. • Execute bulk data cleansing, normalization, and loading operations. • Develop and maintain stored procedures, scripts, and automated jobs to support database operations. • Support ongoing operations and maintenance, including monitoring via Azure Monitor and Log Analytics, ensuring high availability, failover readiness, and performance optimization. • Ensure compliance with federal data management and governance policies, including encryption at rest, redundancy, and disaster recovery planning. • Participate in Agile development processes including sprint planning, code reviews, and backlog grooming.
Job Requirements
- US Citizenship with ability to successfully complete a federal background investigation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in database administration, including relational databases and cloud-based data warehouses.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Azure Synapse Analytics.
- Proficiency in ETL tools and data integration platforms (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Ab Initio, SSIS).
- Experience with structured and unstructured data management, data modeling, and schema design.
- Familiarity with data governance, security policies, and federal compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, Section 508).
- Strong scripting skills for automation (T-SQL, Python, or PowerShell).
- Knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and workload management in cloud environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
