Role Description We’re looking for a senior Media Director to step into a role and own several client accounts from day one. This person will be responsible for media strategy, planning, execution, and campaign management across their assigned book of business, overseeing planning teams, serving as a primary client contact, and partnering cross-functionally with account, strategy, channel, and analytics teams to deliver strong results. This is a role for someone who operates with a high degree of independence. The right candidate is proactive, relationship-driven, and capable of moving work forward across multiple accounts simultaneously without losing sight of the details. The ability to step into existing client relationships and establish trust and momentum quickly is essential. Experience with branding campaigns for CPG or grocery clients is a meaningful advantage. Key Responsibilities - Account & Campaign Ownership: Serve as the day-to-day media lead across assigned accounts—owning strategy, planning, execution, and ongoing campaign management with accountability for performance and client satisfaction. - Media Strategy & Planning: Develop and oversee media strategies that align with client objectives, translating business goals into channel-appropriate, insight-driven media plans across relevant above-the-line and digital channels. - Planning Team Oversight: Manage and provide direction to assigned planning teams, ensuring work is on strategy, on deadline, and meeting the standards expected. - Primary Client Contact: Own the client relationship for designated accounts, leading status communications, presenting recommendations, addressing concerns proactively, and maintaining the trust and confidence of client stakeholders. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with account management, strategy, media channel specialists, and analytics teams to develop integrated, well-rounded campaigns and ensure seamless execution across workstreams. - Campaign Management & Optimization: Monitor campaign performance, surface insights and optimizations in a timely manner, and communicate implications and recommended actions clearly to both internal teams and clients. - New Business Support: Contribute to new business pitch opportunities as needed bringing strategic media thinking and category knowledge. Qualifications - 7+ years of media planning and strategy experience, with demonstrated experience operating at the Director level or equivalent—owning accounts, leading teams, and managing senior client relationships. - Strong command of media strategy across channels, with experience developing both above-the-line brand campaigns and performance-oriented media plans. - Proven ability to manage multiple accounts simultaneously in a fast-paced agency environment, maintaining quality and client confidence across all of them. - Demonstrated experience leading or overseeing planning teams—setting direction, reviewing work, and developing junior talent. - Client-facing confidence and polish; able to establish credibility quickly with new client contacts and navigate nuanced relationship dynamics with ease. - Highly self-directed and proactive—comfortable operating with limited oversight and knowing when to escalate versus when to resolve independently. - Strong organizational and communication skills; able to manage competing priorities without dropping details or losing momentum on any account. - Agency background required.
