The Washington DC program started in 2010 and has been accredited by the American Psychological Association since 2015. The program is known for its active and engaged student body. Graduates of the Clinical Psychology Program go on to be highly sought-after practitioners and experts in their field. The faculty are extremely well-trained and nationally and internationally recognized in their areas of specialty. The Clinical Psychology Program is committed to racial/ethnic, LGBTQ, and gender diversity among our faculty and student body. The campus is located in downtown Washington, DC, and is in close proximity to numerous cultural and recreational opportunities. This position offers a hybrid work schedule with three days on campus and two days remote. One of the remote days may be used for professional development (e.g., research, workshops, professional practice). The Role in Brief Successful candidates will join a diverse and cohesive faculty of outstanding practitioner-scholars. Applicants must have a commitment to graduate instruction, training effective clinicians, supervising student research, academic advisement, and involvement in professional and scholarly activities. The Department Faculty report to the Academic Chair, and are based at the Washington DC Campus. This position is eligible for hybrid work schedule that reflects three days on campus and two days remote. The department seeks an individual who has the ability and interest in contributing to a community committed to student development, professional development and scholarship, integrity and ethics, respect for diversity and pluralism, innovation, flexibility, teamwork, and collaboration. Principle Duties include, but are not limited to: - Teaching - Teach 18 credit hours over the course of three semesters - Hold office hours on a weekly basis - Remain current in field of study/teaching expertise and update course content to reflect knowledge updates - Prepare course syllabus and plans in accord with Department requirements - Select textbooks and teaching aids as required - Classroom instruction including lectures, demonstrations, discussions, or other appropriate modes of education delivery in a higher education setting - Develop, and regularly update, a system for ongoing evaluation of teaching and student learning - Advising - Maintain an advisee load according to Department needs - Spend time with advisees to provide mentorship on matters related to their academic, curricular, and career development - Mentor advisees in preparing their vita and training application materials, as well as write recommendation letters - Assist the Department Chair in documenting student progress through the program; when necessary, this includes crafting individual Academic Development Plans for Advisees, tracking their compliance, and documenting their progress - Present progress of advisees to Faculty at semester Student Review meetings, meet with advisees to gather additional information or communicate Faculty concerns, and report back to Faculty on the results - Scholarship - Supervise doctoral dissertation projects within the faculty member’s area of expertise using quantitative, qualitative, or program evaluation methods of inquiry - Scholarship may include qualitative/quantitative research, presentations at professional conferences, scholarship-based community service, etc. - Professional Service - Maintain scholarly activities that further the practice of professional psychology - Foster education of, and interest in, student service in the community - Engage in community service - Service to Institution - Participate in Departmental functions, including but not limited to participating in the analysis of student progress, assisting in general faculty searches, and admissions activities, contributing to general and specific curriculum development activities, mentoring of new faculty members, and other related duties as assigned - Attendance at faculty meetings and participation in the Faculty Assembly is an expectation. - Service on committee(s) as agreed upon with Department Chair, including Departmental and Institutional Committees. Qualifications: - Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or related discipline (e.g., counseling psychology, social psychology, experimental psychology,). Those with clinical and counseling psychology degrees must have graduated from an APA-accredited program and be currently licensed psychologists or license eligible with a plan to become licensed within a year. - Area of specialty and faculty rank are open. However, special consideration will be given to those with expertise/ability to teach in one or more of the following areas: neuropsychology, psychotherapy, and scientific bases areas. - Teaching experience at the post-secondary level is preferred. The Libertas Center for Human Rights at Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, NY is seeking a Program Assistant to support the delivery of culturally responsive, trauma-informed services to patients at a treatment center for immigrant survivors of torture and human rights violations. The Program Assistant reports to the Operations Director and works in close collaboration with the Data & Program Coordinator, Executive Director and Clinical Director. This position plays a key role in data collection and analysis in addition to supporting the overall program administration. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong project and data management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility with shifting priorities, the ability to anticipate and solve challenges, and have a strong interest in human rights. The Libertas Center is a grant-funded program under the Department of Emergency Medicine at Elmhurst Hospital, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and a teaching hospital for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. The Libertas Center provides immigrant survivors of torture and human rights violations in the New York City area with comprehensive medical, mental health, social and legal services to help them heal, regain independence, and restore hope and humanity in their lives. We use a strengths-based, client-centered and trauma-informed case management approach to provide services directly on-site and through coordination with our partners within and outside the hospital. In addition to direct services, the Libertas Center builds capacity through education and training of medical and mental health providers, conducts research on best practices, and advocates for policies to address survivors’ needs. Our team uses its multidisciplinary expertise and an evidence-based approach to improve the well-being and quality of life for this vulnerable yet highly resilient population. Responsibilities The responsibilities of the Program Assistant include, but are not limited to the following: Administrative Responsibilities • Assist the Libertas team in ensuring that the medical, mental health, social and legal needs of survivors of torture are being met in a comprehensive and efficient manner• Provide administrative support to program and clinical staff • Create a welcoming, nonjudgemental environment for Libertas Center clients • Prepare and process check requests, purchase orders, travel requests and travel reimbursement• Assist with tracking and maintaining program budgets• Coordinate new and ongoing IRB studies, ensuring timely IRB renewal submissions; participate in collaborative research and data projects. • Perform other special projects or other duties as requested Data & Quality Assurance Responsibilities • Enter, clean and manage data; prepare internal data reports• Develop and maintain program database including entering client data • Assist in the preparation of data reports to funding agencies Development & Communications Responsibilities • Enhance organizational fundraising and communications strategies • Cultivate new funding opportunities including from individual, foundation and corporate funders, as well as federal, state and local government opportunities• Plan and execute annual reports and fundraising events• Assist in the preparation of narrative reports to funding agencies• Assist with tracking and managing relationships with partner organizations Qualifications ?
