Compliance Officer

Role Description The Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring that all moving and cleaning operations adhere to federal and state-specific regulations. You will play a vital role in overseeing local and long-distance moves, maintaining documentation, and ensuring our team meets the highest standards of legal and operational integrity. - Develop and oversee compliance protocols for interstate and intrastate moving operations. - Ensure all moving activities comply with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and other federal moving laws. - Monitor and implement state-specific moving regulations for current and future territories, including Maryland, Arizona, Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington D.C. - Manage and audit essential documentation, including W-9 forms, Non-Compete Agreements, and Non-Disclosure Agreements for new hires and contractors. - Collaborate with management to ensure cleaning service contracts and contractor statuses (1099 vs. W-2) meet all labor law requirements. - Oversee compliance for long-distance moves and assist in training team leads on proper documentation and payment procedures. - Periodically review company policies to ensure they align with the latest industry standards and safety guidelines. Qualifications - Education: J.D. from an accredited law school. - Expertise: Deep familiarity with federal moving regulations is required. - Regional Knowledge: Strong familiarity with moving regulations in Maryland and Arizona is highly preferred; additional knowledge of Tennessee, Virginia, and Washington D.C. is a significant advantage. - Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, particularly regarding legal documentation and regulatory filings. - Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively translate complex regulations into actionable company procedures. - Integrity: A strong commitment to ethical business practices and the "Team Overkill" quality standard.
