Role Description Ciklum is looking for a Senior Business Analyst to join our team full-time in Poland. As a Senior Business Analyst, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. The Business Analyst is a critical thinker with a keen eye for detail, actively consulting with stakeholders to investigate and define a shared understanding of the business needs. Working within a fast-paced agile environment, the Business Analyst supports a backend team combining strong analytical skills with a sound technical foundation to drive clarity, alignment, and value in the delivery of backend solutions. Responsibilities - Act as a bridge between technical stakeholders and business users, translating business needs into scalable backend solutions. - Apply systems thinking to help stakeholders understand backend system behaviors and integration points. - Identify upstream/downstream service dependencies, assessing the wider impact of backend changes across the platform ecosystem. - Collaborate across teams to assess the impact of API changes on other systems and services. - Work with architects to understand TUI runway and schemas, Business Object Model (BOM), and assist in documentation and sequencing. - Analyze and interpret API documentation, endpoint definitions, and JSON structures to ensure accurate and consistent communication of functional needs. - Define both functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring completeness and clarity for the delivery team. - Define data mappings and service interactions between internal and external systems, ensuring alignment with TUI’s architectural standards. - Validate requirements related to authentication, security standards, and API consumption patterns in collaboration with technical teams. - Define clear, testable, and traceable technical requirements that enable accurate implementation and QA processes. - Use tools such as Postman, Swagger UI, GraphQL playgrounds, or similar to inspect and test APIs as part of the BA process. - Translate business and stakeholder needs into user stories with clear acceptance criteria that align with the Definition of Ready (DoR). - Lead refinement ceremonies and actively contribute to other agile ceremonies, working closely with Product Owners and developers, ensuring stories are ready-for-development. - Promote iterative delivery, MVP thinking, and continuous feedback loops to ensure value-driven development. - Collaborate effectively with both the technology and product teams, demonstrating strong teamwork and communication. Qualifications - Clear grasp of systems integration patterns, message flows, and dependency management across distributed architectures. - Awareness of how backend changes support or affect front-end behavior, omnichannel features, and user experience. - Strong understanding of APIs, including consumption patterns, endpoint structure, and lifecycle management. - Hands-on experience reviewing and working with RESTful OpenAPI Specification (Swagger) and GraphQL Specification. - Familiarity with RFC 7807 (error-handling requirements), JSON Patch, OAuth, and general API security best practices (e.g., OWASP Top 10). - Ability to define data mappings and transformations across systems, including understanding of omnichannel data strategies. - Competent in analyzing JSON payloads, testing endpoints using tools like Postman or Swagger UI, and validating expected vs. actual responses. - Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. - Commercially aware and customer-focused, always seeking value in backend improvements. - Skilled in facilitating requirements workshops, conducting gap analysis, process mapping, and capturing functional specifications. - Experience creating user stories and acceptance criteria in an agile environment. - Familiarity with modeling techniques such as sequence diagrams, BPMN, or UML. - Basic knowledge of JIRA and Confluence for backlog and documentation management.
