Estimator, Draftsman – Mechanical Engineering Background

• Prepare detailed cost estimates, material take-offs, and supporting documentation for mechanical services projects • Produce and update technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit or similar tools) • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documentation • Assist in preparing tender submissions within tight turnaround times • Coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to gather technical and pricing information • Support value engineering and cost optimisation during the estimation process • Maintain accurate records of revisions, drawings, and estimation outputs • Identify opportunities to improve estimating and drafting workflows for greater efficiency • Manage project documentation using Procore, ensuring documents are uploaded, organised, and maintained in accordance with project requirements. • Prepare Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, commissioning forms, and quality assurance documentation. • Maintain drawing registers, document registers, and project records. • Maintain and update passive fire penetration schedules and registers using ControlDoc or project-specific compliance platforms. • Record and track passive fire penetrations, inspections, and certification documentation to support compliance requirements. • Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors to ensure passive fire records are accurate, complete, and ready for certification. • Assist with the preparation of compliance documentation, defect registers, and project close-out records. • Assist with the preparation of O&M manuals, as-built documentation, warranties, certificates, and project handover packages. • Ensure all project documentation is current, accurate, and issued in a timely manner to support project delivery and handover.
Job Requirements
- Experience in mechanical services estimating and/or drafting
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems in building services environments
- Experience using Procore for project documentation control
- Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Good communication and coordination skills within technical teams
- Ability to quickly interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project requirements
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks efficiently
