The Associate Finance Director is responsible for various financial analyses including financial forecasting and budgeting, financial reporting, business planning, developing business analytics and metrics reporting, combined with ad-hoc analysis for Optum Care Pacific Northwest. This person will lead a team of analysts supporting business performance. Also this person will be an advisor, evaluating and assisting with financial plans and analysis of financial and operational metrics to evaluate and influence. Primary Responsibilities: - Manage team of analysts partnering with operations to understand and improve financial performance of the departments - Lead the financial management of clinical and overhead departments - Develop metrics, benchmarks and analytics to guide the appropriate investments to improve financial performance - Partner with business and finance leaders to understand and improve departmental financials - Analyze and synthesize operating expense trends to identify savings opportunities and collaborate with cross functional teams to drive progress against these opportunities - Proactively seek opportunities to improve processes and identify areas of improvement - Work closely with the business to develop, recommend and establish strategies, plans, and processes to improve profitability and cost efficiencies - Act as subject matter expert on the medical group financials & apply in-depth knowledge of the business for recommendations to management - Perform reports for month-end close and quarterly forecasting on behalf of the supported segment - Complete standard variance analysis and research variance drivers and explain cause-effect relationships - Analyze Workforce / FTE trends and enhance FTE reporting and insights through a closer partnership with business units during forecast cycles You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in. Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - 5+ years of progressive financial planning and analysis experience - 5+ years of experience managing financial reporting and analysis - Experience prioritizing & managing demanding workloads with concurrent deadlines - Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency (Pivot tables, VLookups, Macros) - Complete standard variance analysis and research variance drivers and explain cause-effect relationships - Solid knowledge of GAAP, fundamental financial concepts and procedures - Proven ability to identify financial and operating issues and partner with the business to find solutions to those issues - Proven effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with solid oral and written skills and a willingness to share information - Proven collaborative and flexible style, with a solid service mentality Preferred Qualifications: - Proven ability to influence multiple stakeholders at executive levels - Demonstrate executive presence with solid communication skills *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.
