Job Description
Manager, Instrument Software Engineering
Agilent Technologies
Role Description Manage a software engineering team delivering platform and data services, together with an associated legacy / sustaining-support team staffed by contractors. A hands-on engineering manager / senior tech-lead role accountable for day-to-day delivery, engineering quality, and people growth within a distributed, multi-time-zone organization, with a clear growth path. - Own day-to-day delivery of the team's platform and data services — including ingest, transformation, and replication work. - Manage legacy and sustaining-support work and the associated contractor team. - People management — hiring, performance, and growth for the team. - Coordinate with peer teams across regions to keep shared SDKs, contracts, and data models consistent. - Set sprint-level technical priorities and uphold delivery quality and engineering standards. - Lead the team's adoption of agentic-AI development and test tooling, and the monolith to microservices transition for its services. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree or equivalent plus directly relevant experience. - 7+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years of people leadership or a strong tech-lead-to-manager trajectory. - Hands-on with data services and backend distributed systems on a cloud-native stack (Kubernetes, Go and/or .NET). - Experience with legacy / sustaining-support work and with managing contractor teams. - Strong collaboration in a distributed, cross-time-zone organization. Requirements - 5+ years applying AI/ML, including hands-on use and deployment of agentic AI in development and test workflows (AI-assisted coding, automated testing). - Strong container-based orchestration (Kubernetes): deployment, tuning, and model serving. - Delivery in rapid release cycles within a regulated environment (21 CFR Part 11 / GxP). - Hands-on decomposing legacy monoliths into microservices — specifically transforming workstation-based enterprise applications into containerized client-server web applications. Benefits - This job has a full time weekly schedule. - Includes the option to work remotely. - The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $180,000.00 - $281,250.00/yr plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. - Pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. - Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - During the hiring process, a recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for a preferred location.

• Own the technical strategy and architecture for the POS Application Platform, acting as the domain CTO for everything that runs on our POS devices. • Build and govern the four core platform pillars across the organisation: developer experience (tools, libraries, SDKs), platform reliability (observability, uptime, quality standards), foundational frameworks (architecture, coding standards, testing and release pipelines), and squad adoption (driving uptake of platform tooling across all embedded POS engineers). • Define and enforce engineering standards across all POS device types and OEM manufacturers, ensuring architectural consistency and quality across a heterogeneous device fleet. • Functionally lead POS engineers embedded across Payments, Onboarding, VAS, Savings, and Loans squads — setting the bar for engineering quality and providing the platform layer above all of them. • Own POS observability end-to-end: monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks that ensure platform health across all devices and squads. • Drive the architecture for how Moniepoint supports multiple POS device types, including defining how new devices are onboarded, governed, and integrated with the platform. • Collaborate with OEM partners and the POS hardware team when new device types are introduced, ensuring the application layer is ready to support them from day one. • Write and review code directly — this role expects 40 to 60 percent hands-on engineering time. You will set the technical standard, not just the technical direction. • Build and scale the POS platform team, including hiring, mentoring, and structuring for growth as the platform expands internationally. • Translate platform decisions into business impact, working closely with Product, Payments, and Business leadership across markets. • Establish and continuously improve engineering processes, tooling standards, CI/CD pipelines, and developer productivity metrics across the POS engineering community.
