Senior Systems Engineer
Eastern Communications Ltd.
• Development of design documentation to include application descriptions, interface control documents, system design drawings, system integration, network configuration, and test plans • Participation in discussions with customers, consultants, vendors, subcontractors and other Eastern Communications personnel to complete contractual commitments and advance projects. • Technical planning, system parts ordering, system integration, verification and validation cost and risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems • Analysis at all levels of system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal • Logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems and subsystem solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints • Provide Systems Engineering project ownership after contract award including final design and equipment selection, implementation, as-built documentation, factory and on-site installation, and system optimization • Partnering with internal stakeholders, to include Project Managers, Network Engineers, and other System Engineers to ensure complete project lifecycle integration
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar technical degree with a minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience.
- Willingness to travel domestically (~25%travel)

Role Description The Senior Systems Analyst (Cloud & DevOps) is a hands-on individual contributor responsible for designing, building, operating, and continuously improving AAAS’s cloud infrastructure and deployment automation platforms. This role focuses on AWS-based systems, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation to support reliable, secure, and repeatable delivery of applications and services. The incumbent works closely with Application Development, Web Development, Security, and IT Operations teams as a technical peer, owning delivery tooling and automating operational workflows to improve reliability, security, and efficiency across the organization. What You’ll Do - Cloud Infrastructure & Operations - Design, deploy, and maintain AWS-based infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code practices. - Administer and optimize core AWS services including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC, and related services. - Implement security best practices for cloud environments in partnership with IT Security. - Monitor system health, performance, availability, and costs; proactively address reliability risks. - Participate in on-call rotations and incident response for systems owned by the role. - DevOps & CI/CD Enablement - Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitLab CI or Azure DevOps. - Partner with development teams to standardize build, deployment, and release workflows. - Improve deployment safety through automation, testing, validation, and rollback mechanisms. - Integrate security scanning, secrets management, and compliance controls into pipelines. - Operational Resilience & Documentation - Document architectures, pipelines, operational procedures, and automation clearly and accurately. - Produce and maintain “as-built” and “as-operated” documentation to support IT Operations. - Collaboration & Support - Serve as a technical partner to Application Development, Web Development, and IT Operations teams. - Provide tiered operational support and troubleshooting for cloud and deployment platforms. - Participate in infrastructure and platform initiatives aligned with AAAS technology strategy. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in systems administration, cloud engineering, or DevOps roles. - Hands-on experience operating production workloads in AWS or Azure environments. - Demonstrated experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or equivalent). - Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools and automation practices. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root-cause analysis. - Ability to work independently with defined objectives and broad technical latitude. - Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to collaborate across teams without formal authority. - Discipline in documentation, change management, and following established standards.
