Job Description

Technical Account Manager

Shippo

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for assigned accounts, building trusted relationships and hosting regular meetings with technical stakeholders. • Support partners and their end-users by having the technical expertise of Shippo’s API, product features, carrier-specific integrations, and workflow solutions. • Support high-severity incident response by working with Engineering on root cause identification, impact analysis and providing customers with regular updates and communication. • Proactively monitor partner usage by setting up alarms/alerts, and tracking key metrics to ensure smooth and reliable operations. • Advocate for partners by representing their technical needs within Shippo, especially in the context of R&D changes or potential breaking updates. • Confidently engage with technical leaders at partner companies (e.g., Heads of Engineering, Product leaders), answering complex product/API questions with clarity and professionalism. • Own the technical content during presentations to highlight product usage, potential solutions, and troubleshooting. • Leverage cross-functional support teams to ensure partners have access to the product experts and resources they need.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of work experience in technical account management in e-commerce/marketplace platforms or fulfillment/software/SaaS industry
  • Strong technical background with proven experience working with APIs, debugging integrations, and analyzing technical workflows.
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Databricks, Looker, or similar) to query, analyze, and visualize partner usage data.
  • Experience translating partner needs into actionable internal deliverables, with strong ticketing and documentation practices.
  • Excellent written communication, presentation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact with senior engineering and product leaders.
  • Ability to work independently in incident and problem management, jumping into technical issues proactively.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset, with the ability to balance partner advocacy and internal priorities.

About the Role As a Technical Account Manager, you’ll play a technical role on our customer-facing team. You’ll work closely with the sales and product teams to support new business opportunities, demo the platform to prospects, manage proof-of-concept (PoC) deployments, and serve as a frontline technical resource for customers post-sales. You will be instrumental in building trust with prospects and clients by translating complex technical requirements into clear, actionable solutions. The role will require limited business travel. Key Responsibilities Presales Engineering: Partner with business development to support discovery calls, solution scoping, and platform demos. Act as the technical subject matter expert during the sales cycle. Tailor presentations and demonstrations to customer-specific use cases (e.g., fleet charging, public charging networks, energy management). Assist with RFP/RFI responses and technical documentation. Design and lead PoC and pilot implementations. Technical Advisory Services: Serve as the first line of technical advisory for select enterprise customers, resolving or triaging issues. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to troubleshoot complex issues and provide feedback loops from customer interactions. Maintain documentation and onboarding materials for both technical and non-technical users. Monitor and manage customer requests. Identify recurring issues and propose long-term product or process solutions. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Interface with engineering, product, and operations to ensure customer requirements are understood and addressed. Inform product roadmap decisions based on customer feedback and market demand. Help improve internal knowledge bases, playbooks, and technical enablement materials. Must-have 3–5+ years in a presales engineering, technical account management, or customer-facing technical role, preferably in EV technology. Background in EV infrastructure, energy tech, IoT, or mobility software. Strong understanding of APIs, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), and integration concepts. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with EV charging protocols (e.g., OCPP, OCPI), energy systems, or fleet management. Experience working with CRMs, ticketing systems, and knowledge bases. Nice-to-Have Experience in scripting (e.g., Python, Shell), SQL, or data analysis tools for troubleshooting or reporting. Experience supporting enterprise-level deployments or integrations.
