Principal Engineer

• Provide managerial and technical oversight to one or more cross-functional engineering teams, including: • Provide performance coaching and technical coordination • Requirement clarification • Identify development best practices • Validate work accuracy and adherence to compliance controls • Identify training needs and talent development opportunities • Inter and cross-teams dependency coordination • Collaborate with product owners and business stakeholders to gather requirements • Collaborate with scrum master to deliver projects on time and within budget • Participate in release planning meetings
Job Requirements
- Proven work experience as an Engineering Manager or similar role in an Agile environment
- Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems
- Effective communication skills for overseeing engineers and working with other management personnel.
- Effective communications to achieve team and business objectives
- Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details
- Broad technical knowledge across relevant cross-functional tech domains – Front-end (Angular/Typescript), Backend (Kotlin), QA and QA automations
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven track record of delivering fast-paced complex features/products
- Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional, cross-organization teams to assemble project plans, secure commitments on deliverables, and lead the resolution of blocking issues
- People management experience, managing engineers
- Demonstrated passion for understanding ambiguous, complex problems and driving high-quality, innovative, and robust solutions.
- Experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) new and existing systems
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent)

• Serve as the senior-most technical voice for SimSpace's core frontend, owning architecture decisions and the technical roadmap for shared UI systems. • Lead major frontend initiatives end to end—from requirements gathering and architecture design through delivery—setting clear goals, priorities, and technical direction. • Steward architectural decisions and manage technical and UX debt deliberately, balancing long-term health with delivery needs. • Define and enforce frontend technical standards for code health, performance, testing, and documentation. • Mentor Design Engineers and frontend engineers, modeling strong craft, collaboration, and pragmatism. • Design, build, extend, and maintain SimSpace's design system (e.g., Monorail) and higher-order component libraries, emphasizing consistency, accessibility, responsiveness, and performance. • Contribute directly and deeply to the code, ensuring shared systems stay aligned between design (Figma) and implementation (code, Storybook). • Review and curate contributions from other engineers to shared UI libraries, maintaining high standards for UX quality and code health. • Act as a technical partner to UX Designers—providing feasibility feedback, implementation guidance, and UI engineering insight early in the design process. • Lead accessibility (a11y) best practices at the component and system level. • Identify and address UX and UI quality issues—visual inconsistencies, interaction gaps, and usability bugs—across the product. • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality, performance, and adherence to standards.
