Title: Academic Advisor - Microbiology (Part-Time) Location: Iowa City United States Job Description: Student Services 26003620 The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) is seeking a part-time (50%), benefits-eligible Academic Advisor to work with students majoring in microbiology. The individual in this position will provide academic advising to microbiology students and advising-based perspectives to university colleagues and public stakeholders, such as students, family members and prospective students. Advisors integrate interpersonal and communication skills with knowledge of curricula, policies (departmental, collegiate, and University), resources, and student development to help students identify options, set academic and developmental goals, and make progress toward those goals. They gather data and collaborate with colleges and academic programs on matters that impact student recruitment, success, and retention. Advisors also administer, advocate for, or take a leadership role in programs and initiatives that facilitate student transition, success, and retention or that enhance the overall process of academic advising at the University. CLAS academic advisors play a crucial role in the success of our students. They guide students through their university journey and are dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive educational environment. Advisors engage with students through both in-person and Zoom meetings, focusing on academic planning, goal setting, and encouraging involvement in opportunities and resources that enhance both their college experience and future career success. They collaborate with the career center to help students identify potential career paths and assist those facing academic challenges. In addition, CLAS advisors actively participate in retention and graduation initiatives and work closely with students facing academic challenges. They play a key role in welcoming and assisting transfer students during orientation to ensure a smooth transition to the University of Iowa. Advisors collaborate with faculty and staff within their departments. Advisors support one another through cross-training, programming, and staff development. They are also involved in various committees dedicated to enhancing the advising experience. Furthermore, advisors engage in weekly and monthly developmental activities, fostering a sense of community within the College. They participate in important events such as commencement and recruitment, contributing to the overall success of our students. This position is not eligible for University sponsorship for employment authorization. Student advising meetings typically do not begin before 9:00 a.m. To ensure availability during peak advising hours, the preferred work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, approximately four hours per day, with hours chosen between 9:00am and 3:30pm. Availability is required for staff meetings between 10:00am-12:00pm on Thursdays. The specific schedule will be discussed during the interview process and finalized with the selected candidate at the time of offer. The position is fully on-site during the training period, after which the possibility of a hybrid arrangement with one remote day or a four-day a week schedule could be considered. This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy, work arrangements will be reviewed annually, and must comply with the remote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location. Key Responsibilities - Gain knowledge and expertise on departmental major requirements and policies. - Develop and practice skills in communicating with a variety of student populations. - Understand FERPA policies and how to protect student privacy. - Advise undergraduate majors on departmental, collegiate and University policies and procedures. - Monitor completion of General Education Program requirements and advise students on selection of courses that satisfy the requirements. - Advise and monitor student progress regarding major requirements and on the development of appropriate academic plans. - Authorize registration, drop/adds and withdrawals. - Utilize and develop advising materials, tools, strategies, and programming to facilitate student growth, development, and success. - Create and send advising newsletters to students on regular basis. Job Summary - Manager level candidates are expected to work independently with minimal senior support. - Analyze secondary data and market research to identify key insights and trends. - Lead quantitative and qualitative analyses to support client deliverables and business decisions using IQVIA data. - Independently create client presentations and actively participate in, support, and present at client meetings. - Manage projects and work streams of reasonable complexity. - Be able to quickly learn and work with sales and promotional data, market and epidemiology assessment, pipeline analysis and market research. - Develop project plans with clear timelines and deliverables, ensuring on time and on budget execution. - Coach consultants across multiple concurrent projects. - Collaborate effectively across internal and external teams to achieve project and organizational goals. Skills & Experience - Hands on experience with Patient Analytics, including IQVIA or similar data at patient, prescriber, and account levels (e.g. Anonymous patient-level data (APLD), LAAD etc.,). - Experience with sales and marketing analytics using sub national data (patient, physician, or payer level). - Experience supporting analytics such as Source of Business, Compliance, Payer, Patient Journey, Promo Mix Modeling, Segmentation, and Targeting. - Strong technical skills in Excel, SAS, SQL, R, Tableau, and/or Excel VBA. - Strong project management skills with consistent delivery of high-quality outcomes. - Strong analytical, interpretative, and problem-solving skills, including working with large and complex data sets.   Qualifications - Bachelors degree or higher with 6–8 years of relevant healthcare experience. - Strong interest in healthcare analytics with knowledge of the US healthcare market. - Ability to follow SOPs, document project work, and adhere to processes Strong business acumen and understanding of sales and marketing principles - Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills - Strong written, numerical, and problem-solving abilities - Adaptable, with the ability to learn and apply new concepts quickly IQVIA is a leading global provider of clinical research services, commercial insights and healthcare intelligence to the life sciences and healthcare industries. The actual base pay offered may vary based on a number of factors including job-related qualifications such as knowledge, skills, education, and experience; location; and/or schedule (full or part-time). Dependent on the position offered, incentive plans, bonuses, and/or other forms of compensation may be offered, in addition to a range of health and welfare and/or other benefits.
