Job Description

Director of Workers Compensation

Martin & Company

• Lead the development and execution of Workers’ Compensation strategies, providing clear, actionable recommendations for internal and client stakeholders • Direct the development and submission of rate, rule, and form filings while coordinating with actuarial and regulatory teams • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior-level clients, participating in meetings and presenting complex findings to support their long-term goals • Maintain expert-level knowledge of Workers’ Compensation trends, legislative changes, and industry best practices to drive innovation • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and collaborate across cross-functional teams, including analysts and project managers

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Workers’ Compensation, including Large Deductible and Dividend Plans
  • In-depth knowledge of NCCI and Independent Bureau Loss Cost and Regulatory Changes
  • Familiarity with Statistical Reporting and Financial Data Calls is a plus
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Proven ability to mentor junior consultants and manage cross-functional project teams
  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g., Excel, Access, SQL)
  • Skill in managing high-stakes discussions with carriers, regulators, and legal counsel
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and master new software and system platforms quickly
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and client stakeholders
  • Experience with the following is preferred: SERFF, Wrike software project management tool, APCIA, Wolters Kluwer, and IRMI.
