Role Description Tax Manager is responsible for providing tax support to the VetStrategy Group of Companies. This exciting role is offered to remote candidates who are legally authorized to work in Canada and currently reside in Canada. The Tax Manager will support corporate and indirect tax reporting, compliance, documentation, planning, and audit activities across a multi-entity structure, including intercompany and transfer pricing matters. We are seeking candidates with manager-level experience; however, we will also consider strong senior tax accountant level applicants who can demonstrate a proven track record of technical expertise, ownership, and the ability to drive results in a complex tax environment. - Support preparation and review of tax provisions under IFRS and related analysis - Support analysis and application of Excessive Interest and Financing Expenses Limitation (EIFEL) rules, including calculation of interest deductibility limits and tracking of carryforward balances - Assist with coordination, preparation, and review of tax filings across entities, including but not limited to T2s, T5013s, NR4s, T106s, T1134s, T5s, GST/HST, PST, and QST returns - Ensure accurate current and deferred tax calculations on a quarterly basis - Calculate effective tax rates (ETR) and explain variances - Work closely with the Finance Team and Group Tax on financial statements and disclosures - Maintain documentation for tax positions and respond to audit queries and information requests from tax authorities, including the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec - Prepare and/or review consolidated forecasts of tax expense, cash taxes, and effective tax rates to support internal and external reporting functions - Support ongoing corporate and indirect tax audits and related deliverables - Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany arrangements - Assist with monitoring and application of transfer pricing policies across entities - Track and update entity-level tax attributes (i.e., losses, credits) - Advise on tax-efficient structures for transactions and identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities within legal frameworks - Support indirect tax matters and issues related to imports/exports - Assist with review of tax treatment across transactions and entities - Identify and mitigate tax risks across operations - Support business decisions (pricing, procurement, expansion, acquisitions, and cross-border matters) with tax insights - Support ongoing tax reporting, compliance, documentation, and internal processes - Involvement in various special projects (i.e., acquisitions, tax audits, and cross-border tax matters) - Other ad hoc matters as required Qualifications - CPA designation required (or equivalent) - Completion of or currently enrolled in the CPA In-Depth Tax Course and/or CPA Canada In-Depth GST/HST Program - 4+ years of Canadian tax experience, including corporate income tax and/or indirect tax (GST/HST/PST/QST) - Strong tax accounting and compliance experience - Strong knowledge of Canadian tax rules and compliance requirements - Experience with multi-entity or multi-jurisdiction environments - Experience supporting tax authority audits and preparing tax documentation - Experience with tax preparation/compliance software such as TaxPrep and Forms - Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite or Oracle (or similar systems) - Experience with transfer pricing concepts and intercompany arrangements - Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Company Description
