Role Description We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Platform team. In this role, you will contribute to the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models and advanced analytics solutions that power our products and drive meaningful business outcomes. You will work closely with our engineering and research teams, collaborating on innovative projects that leverage modern ML frameworks, robust data pipelines, and scalable cloud platforms. What You’ll Be Doing - The Day to Day - Design, develop, and validate machine learning models for a variety of prediction, classification, and optimization tasks. - Collaborate with data engineers, product teams, researchers, and clinical subject matter experts to source, clean, and transform large, complex datasets for modelling and analysis. - Conduct exploratory data analysis, feature engineering, model selection, and hyperparameter tuning using modern ML libraries. - Implement and evaluate statistical models, supervised/unsupervised algorithms, and time series forecasting methods. - Develop reproducible, well-documented code using Python and industry-standard ML frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, PyTorch, TensorFlow). - Communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through clear visualizations and presentations. - Translate business problems into machine learning solutions and contribute to model operationalization strategies. - Stay current with advancements in machine learning, AI, and data science practices. Qualifications - 5-7 years of professional experience developing machine learning and data science solutions in production environments. - Strong proficiency in Python, including core data science libraries: pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, matplotlib, polars, etc. - Experience with ML model development, evaluation, and deployment workflows. - Experience with MLOps tools and practices. - Hands-on experience with SQL and working with large-scale relational datasets. - Solid understanding of statistical modelling, data mining, and algorithm development. - Experience working in cross-functional teams and translating business needs into technical solutions. - Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. We're looking for a Finance Data Scientist to help build the data foundation that powers financial reporting, forecasting, strategic decision-making, and investor communications. In this role, you'll partner closely with Strategic Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, Engineering, Product, and Data teams to ensure our financial metrics are accurate, actionable, and trusted across the business. This is a full-time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. What you'll do at Figma: - Own and improve the data models that power Figma's financial reporting, including ARR, revenue, billings, collections, and other key business metrics. - Build scalable reporting systems, forecasts, and analytical frameworks that support Finance, Accounting, Investor Relations, and executive leadership. - Drive data accuracy and completeness across month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes alongside Strategic Finance and Accounting teams. - Collaborate with Engineering, Product, GTM Systems, and Financial Systems teams to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial data. - Conduct deep-dive analyses that inform strategic decisions and uncover opportunities to improve business performance. - Define, measure, and operationalize key financial and operational metrics. - Design and implement durable data solutions that balance immediate stakeholder needs with long-term scalability. - Serve as a trusted thought partner to Finance leaders, helping guide reporting, forecasting, and decision-making across the business. Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Finance, Financial Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field. - Advanced SQL skills and strong proficiency in Python or a similar programming language. - Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, Strategic Finance, FP&A, Investor Relations, or other finance-focused stakeholders. - Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business insights for non-technical stakeholders. - Experience working independently and driving projects from ambiguity to execution. Requirements - Experience with SaaS, subscription-based, usage-based, or consumption-based business models. - Knowledge of accounting concepts and revenue recognition principles (ASC 606). - Experience with modern analytics and data engineering tools such as DBT, Snowflake, Git, Spark, Presto, or similar technologies. - Experience supporting IPO readiness, public company reporting, SOX controls, audits, or other major corporate milestones. - Background in Strategic Finance, FP&A, Accounting, Investment Banking, Consulting, or related fields. Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process. As well as translate the resulting insights into actionable strategies that will guide our marketing budget allocation. • You will leverage your expertise in handling extensive data sets to conduct comprehensive analyses from start to finish, including data preparation, modelling training, and thorough evaluation. • You will own, improve and promote best practices and scientific models for Machine Learning, advanced statistics and predictive modeling within the team. • You will join a dynamic Data Science team and collaborate closely with a talented group of Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers and Data Analysts who bring diverse experience and skills to the table.
