Role Description GAI Consultants is seeking an Assistant Substation CAD Operator 3 to support Substation projects. This position requires working with engineering and other technical subject matter experts in all aspects of electrical substation and protections & controls design services. The successful candidate will perform CAD work of red-lined engineering markups for various substations and/or protection and control engineering projects as well as project support working under engineering supervision. The successful candidate will have the ability to work at a GAI office, hybrid or fully remote. Job Duties: - Opening, revising, plotting, and saving of drawing CAD files. - Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages. - Knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package. - Assist CAD technicians and CAD operators in the development of their skills as required. - Ability to learn multiple software platforms including, but not limited to, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical. - Attend project-specific meetings as required. - Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and be able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and unexpected developments. - Ability to work extended hours or after hours when required. - Learning and helping to find ways to improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards. - Effective communication with the project team. - Ability to learn AutoCAD Electrical smart functions and relationships. Qualifications - 3+ Years of Experience - Associate Degree from an accredited Technical School or equivalent experience Requirements - Clear understanding of geospatial relationships. - Perform general review of project work. - Advanced knowledge of aspects of corporate and group standards. - Responsible for personal task management and adherence to deadlines and scope. - Provides minimal oversight and begins to provide mentoring to lower-level CAD Operators. - Given general instructions and performs work independently with minimal supervision. - Possess very good oral and written communication skills. - Interacts effectively with other staff. - Able to coach and mentor lower-level CAD staff as required to facilitate projects.
