Role Description The Google Cloud Infrastructure Practice Architect II is a key leadership position within TEKsystems Global Services, responsible for designing, developing, and leading the implementation of sophisticated Cloud Infrastructure solutions on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for major clients. This role requires a seasoned professional with robust experience in architecting and delivering enterprise-grade Cloud Infrastructure systems. The Practice Architect II will provide technical leadership to project teams, ensuring solutions are scalable, resilient, and aligned with client business objectives and TEKsystems' quality standards. A significant aspect of this role involves translating complex business challenges into effective technical solutions using a variety of GCP services. The incumbent will also play a crucial role in practice development, contributing to the creation of intellectual property (IP), mentoring junior team members, and supporting pre-sales activities. This position is distinguished by the complexity of engagements and the expectation to lead delivery efforts within larger cross-functional programs. Responsibilities - Architecture & Delivery Excellence: - Lead the technical design and architecture of complex, enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging core GCP services including Compute Engine, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Cloud Storage, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, Cloud Interconnect, Cloud VPN, Shared VPC and Network Connectivity Center. - Architect and implement enterprise landing zones and governance frameworks, establishing standardized patterns for networking, security, identity, compliance, observability, and operational excellence. - Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform and GitOps methodologies, enabling automated provisioning, configuration management, and infrastructure lifecycle management. - Define and implement cloud networking architectures, including hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity, VPC design, segmentation strategies, DNS, load balancing, service networking, and network security controls. - Architect and implement cloud security solutions leveraging IAM, Organization Policies, VPC Service Controls, Cloud Armor, Model Armor, Security Command Center, CMEK, Secret Manager, and Zero Trust security principles. - Design and oversee platform engineering capabilities, including Kubernetes platforms, container orchestration, developer self-service platforms, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native operating models. - Architect observability, reliability, and operational frameworks utilizing Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Cloud Trace, Cloud Operations Suite, SRE principles, disaster recovery, backup strategies, and business continuity planning. - Design infrastructure platforms supporting AI, Generative AI, and Agentic AI workloads, including GPU-enabled environments, scalable inference platforms, vector database infrastructure, model serving architectures, and secure integration patterns. - Project Leadership & Delivery Management: - Lead the technical delivery of large-scale GCP cloud infrastructure and modernization programs, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, security requirements, project scope, timelines, and budget objectives. - Provide technical leadership and guidance to cloud engineers, platform engineers, DevOps engineers, SREs, and solution architects, fostering a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement. - Manage technical risks and issues throughout the project lifecycle, facilitating timely resolution and communicating effectively with stakeholders. - Ensure financial and contractual responsibility for the profitability of assigned cloud engagements through effective resource planning, delivery governance, and risk management. - Conduct deep-dive technical workshops, architecture reviews, and enablement sessions to help customers accelerate cloud adoption and operational maturity on GCP. - Client Engagement & Technical Advisory: - Collaborate closely with client stakeholders to understand their business objectives, technical requirements, and challenges, translating them into effective GCP solution architectures. - Lead Value Engineering efforts to help clients articulate the ROI of Cloud Infrastructure initiatives, ensuring clear KPIs are established to move projects successfully from Proof of Concept (PoC) into enterprise production. - Present and articulate complex technical solutions, architectural designs, and project progress to both technical and non-technical client audiences, building trust and ensuring alignment. - Act as a key technical point of contact for clients during project execution, addressing concerns and managing expectations. - Support pre-sales activities by contributing to solution design, proposal development, technical presentations, and proof-of-concept (PoC) demonstrations for Google Cloud Infrastructure opportunities. - Plan, facilitate, and lead strategic workshops, hackathons, and ideation sessions for customers within the Google ecosystem, leveraging partner-led discovery frameworks to drive AI Infrastructure and Agentic AI infrastructure adoption. - Practice Development & Mentorship: - Contribute significantly to the development and refinement of TEKsystems' GCP practice by creating reusable intellectual property (IP), best practices, reference architectures, and delivery methodologies. - Mentor and guide junior architects, DevOps engineers, and cloud engineers, fostering their technical and professional growth within the practice. Team sizes for mentorship can range from 3 to over 10 members. - Stay current with advancements in Google Cloud Platform services, cloud-native technologies, platform engineering, Kubernetes ecosystems, cloud security, infrastructure automation, and emerging AI infrastructure capabilities, driving innovation within the practice. - Participate in architectural discussions to build confidence and ensure customer success when building new and migrating existing applications, software, and services on the GCP platform. Qualifications - Bachelor’s/master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent, relevant experience. - A minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with a strong emphasis on cloud infrastructure, enterprise architecture, platform engineering, cloud operations, and infrastructure modernization. - At least 5–7+ years of direct, hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating enterprise-scale cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud Platform. - A minimum of 2–3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, leading cloud transformation initiatives, infrastructure modernization programs, or platform engineering teams. - Demonstrated experience with the complete lifecycle of Infrastructure projects on GCP, from initial requirements gathering and PoC development through to production deployment, monitoring, and optimization. - Proven experience architecting and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud automation frameworks using Terraform, GitOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure lifecycle management practices. - Strong client-facing experience, including presenting technical solutions, participating in workshops, and effectively communicating with diverse stakeholders. - Extensive experience architecting and implementing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud infrastructure solutions on Google Cloud Platform. - At least 1 year of experience in Generative AI using Hyperscalers, employing techniques such as RAG, prompt engineering, Agentic AI, and AI Infrastructure. - Active Google Cloud Professional Certification is highly preferred (Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Network Engineer and/or Professional Cloud Security Engineer).
